TV personality-turned-businesswoman RR Enriquez has broken her silence on rumors that she and longtime partner, former basketball star Jayjay Helterbrand, have called it quits.
Enriquez took to Instagram and Facebook to address the flood of comments from netizens speculating about the state of their 15-year relationship.
Screenshots of comments suggested that the two had already broken up as early as May 13, while others criticized Enriquez and even threatened to unfollow her.
Amused by the public’s attention, Enriquez captioned her post: “It’s just crazy that some people are so INVESTED to know the score between me and Jj. Pati Chat GPT tinanong nyo na. Hindi naman kami si KathNiel, JaDine, LizQuen or AlDub but thank you for making me feel na parang ganun na nga ang love team namin.”
While she neither confirmed nor denied the breakup, Enriquez appealed to the public to stop harassing her in the comment section, especially whenever she posts photos with other people.
“Please stop harassing me sa comment section, especially if I am posting someone in my account. Whether it’s true or not, I think it would be better if you stop comparing someone. I’m not pertaining to my relationship but to everyone—artista, influencer, or kahit sino pa. Why is there a need to compare the new one to the old one?” she said.
The former ‘Wowowee’ host also reminded netizens that people have different traits and strengths, stressing that relationships should not be treated like competitions.
“I’m sure everyone has different characteristics. Yung iba better sa pagluluto, yung iba better sa bed CHAR. Hindi ito competition so please stop comparing. Thank you!!!” she added.
Enriquez’s statement left many followers puzzled as she avoided directly confirming whether she and Helterbrand had indeed separated.
It can be recalled that in June 2024, Enriquez openly talked about the rocky beginnings of her relationship with Helterbrand in an interview with Boy Abunda. She admitted that she entered the picture as a third party, while Jayjay still had a girlfriend at the time.
Despite this, the couple lasted for 15 years, with Enriquez crediting their faith for helping them overcome challenges. She also revealed that she once confronted women linked to Helterbrand, but later sought forgiveness from his former girlfriend after she too became a Christian.
