Kapuso rising star and former ‘PBB Celebrity Collab Edition’ housemate Shuvee Etrata has spoken up after a past video of her expressing support for former President Rodrigo Duterte resurfaced and went viral online.

In an Instagram story on Tuesday, September 23, Etrata apologized to fans and netizens who were hurt or disappointed by her earlier remarks.
“Maayong adlaw sa tanan! I’m deeply grateful for the support many of you have shown.
Etrata said she understood the criticisms and took full responsibility for her words, noting that she has generally avoided discussing politics because of how divisive it can be.
“I understand that what I said in the past caused hurt to some and I take responsibility for it.
The young actress stressed that she now stands firmly with Filipinos calling for accountability, particularly in the fight against corruption.
I will continue to learn and grow. I stand for and with the Filipino people—always.”
The controversy stemmed from a spliced video of Etrata during a livestream in March 2025, where she grew emotional after news broke of Duterte’s arrest.
Ewan ko lang sa inyo pero nagpapasalamat talaga ako kay Duterte,” she said in the clip, which has since resurfaced across social media.
Netizens, however, expressed disappointment, saying they had hoped Etrata—who herself had experienced struggles in life—would be more attuned to the plight of vulnerable sectors and use her platform to demand accountability from leaders.
