Aiai delas Alas marks first anniversary of separation: ‘Pain was my teacher, healing is my revolution’

Comedienne Aiai delas Alas marked a deeply personal milestone this week—one year since parting ways with her husband, Gerald Sibayan.

On social media, the Comedy Queen looked back on her journey from heartbreak to healing, calling the day her “Freedom Anniversary.”

In a heartfelt post, Ai-Ai shared that the past year has been a time of reflection, strength, and renewed faith.

“Happy Freedom Anniversary. One year wiser, one year stronger, one year freer. Here’s to the woman who rose when she could’ve broken. Pain was my teacher… Healing is my revolution. To GOD all the glory and honor,” she wrote.

She also looked back on the emotional turmoil she went through after being left by the person she thought she would spend forever with.

“Isang taon na ang lumipas mula nang iwan ako ng taong akala ko’y kasama ko habang buhay. Naligaw ako, naguluhan, at halos hindi ko na alam kung saan ako magsisimula,” she shared.

Despite the heartbreak, Aiai expressed gratitude to her loved ones, friends, priests, and fans who stood by her side during her lowest moments.

“Pero sa gitna ng sakit, gulo, at katahimikan — nariyan kayo. Sa lahat ng dumamay, umunawa, tumahimik sa tabi ko, at nagdasal para sa akin — salamat. Hindi ko ito nalampasan nang mag-isa. At higit sa lahat, salamat sa Diyos na hindi ako iniwan kahit kailan. Buhay ako. Matatag ako,” she added.

The actress also thanked her son, Sancho Vito delas Alas, for being her constant source of inspiration, as well as her fans who continue to remind her of her worth.

“Noong panahon na ‘yun, parati kong isinasaisip at isinasapuso ang comment na nabasa ko: ‘Isang tao lang siya, milyon kaming nagmamahal sa’yo,’” she said.

A year after her breakup, Aiai credits her faith, her community, and even her fitness routine—like Zumba and gym workouts—for helping her rebuild her strength and joy.

In November 2024, Aiai confirmed her separation from Sibayan after nearly a decade together. The two tied the knot in 2017 at the Christ the King Parish Church in Quezon City.

“Hiwalay na kami. Last month pa,” she revealed in an earlier interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda. “Sinabi niya na gusto niya magkaanak at hindi na siya happy. Medyo shocked ako… sana hinintay man lang niya akong makauwi.”
