Actress Chie Filomeno stirred intrigue online after posting what appeared to be a cryptic reflection on heartbreak and betrayal — one that has fans speculating about her recent breakup and a possible rift with a former friend.

On Friday, October 17, Filomeno shared a carousel of photos on Instagram using Tiffany Stringer’s ‘The National Anthem (of Independence)’ as background audio, accompanied by the caption: “It’s a trend to use songs, since that’s what you have been doing. So might as well. It’s your sad boi era. I’m in my healing era.”
Without naming names, Chie alluded to a past relationship that ended painfully.
“I didn’t want to teach him how to love me — that’s unfair, so unfair for both of us. We deserve so much better, we all do. I wish him all the best, I truly do,” she wrote.
But the post didn’t stop there. The actress went on to call out a “so-called friend” who, she claimed, betrayed her trust and even “used the internet to attack” her character.
“What stings more is that a so-called friend, who knew exactly how I was treated during the relationship, still chose betrayal — even using the internet to attack my character. Mind you, she said she does not want to get involved but did everything to insert herself in the picture that she shouldn’t be a part of. And when I finally stood up for myself and confronted her, no reply, no accountability,” Chie said.
She concluded her message with a note of gratitude and self-worth: “Standing up for myself because I know my worth, I’m finally being treated the way we all deserve to be and I am surrounded by people who truly know me and got my back. Grateful for all of you, on to the next chapter. I hope you find peace.”
The post quickly drew attention — not just from followers but also from Matthew Lhuillier, the Cebu-based businessman rumored to be romantically linked to Chie. Lhuillier dropped a (United States flag) emoji in the comments, to which Chie replied with a ✈️ (airplane) emoji, further fueling speculation about their connection.
Filomeno and Lhuillier were first linked last September when the actress promoted Bisaya Brew, a beer brand owned by the Lhuillier family. Since then, social media users have been abuzz with rumors of a budding romance.
The actress previously made headlines following her breakup with actor Jake Cuenca, as well as her rumored fallout with Sofia Andres, who is in a long-term relationship with Matthew’s cousin, Daniel Miranda.
Last month, Chie appealed to the public to stop dragging the Lhuillier family into her personal issues.
“I ask that my past relationship, my present life, and the Lhuillier family be left out of this issue. They don’t deserve to be dragged into something that has nothing to do with them,” she said in an Instagram Story.
As of this writing, Chie remains tight-lipped about her current relationship status — but her “healing era” post has certainly kept fans watching closely.
