Actor Jake Cuenca has finally broken his silence about his much-talked-about split with Chie Filomeno, admitting that the relationship ended not with a confrontation, but because “things overlapped.”

During the press conference for his upcoming Netflix action film ‘Delivery Rider’, Jake was asked about his current relationship status — and his answer revealed a more complicated truth behind their breakup.
“There was no formal breakup,” Jake clarified. “Things overlapped.”
While he didn’t go into specifics, Jake’s words hinted that timing played a major role in the end of their relationship. When pressed further, the actor only said that the experience was difficult but ultimately something he had accepted.
“Yeah, I’m good, at least. But it’s a lot to take. A lot is happening. A lot is being said. I can officially say that that chapter of my life is over now,” he admitted.
Despite what happened, Jake emphasized that there was no bitterness between him and Chie.
“To be quite honest with you, I can at least say that I really love that person. For me, I respect that person to this day,” he said. “When you really love someone, you want them to be happy. You want them to be loved as well.”
Rumors about “overlapping” surfaced weeks ago when Chie was spotted with model Matthew Lhuillier, shortly after news of her breakup with Jake spread online. While Jake did not confirm or deny any connection between the two situations, his statement appeared to acknowledge that their personal timelines may have blurred.

The actor, however, chose not to dwell on it, saying he prefers to focus on work instead.
“I’ve been working six days a week. I really don’t have time to be Jake at all,” he said. “Even if I’m not in the mood, even if I’m heartbroken, it’s okay. I can do it. Just try. You can.”
Now marking his 25th year in showbiz, Jake said he’s channeling everything — including the pain — into his craft.
“This is my dream. Really. This is my life,” he said.
Jake stars as Roden in ‘Delivery Rider’, directed by Lester Pimentel Ong, alongside Baron Geisler and Euwenn Mikael. The film premieres October 23 on Netflix.
