Singer-comedienne Kakai Bautista didn’t hold back as she opened up about the harsh truths of the entertainment industry, revealing her frustration over how some artists—despite lacking professionalism or singing talent—are still paid more than those who work hard and stay dedicated to their craft.

In a candid Instagram Reel posted recently, the Dental Diva reflected on her decades-long career in film, television, and theater. Despite being a seasoned performer known for her vocal prowess and stage discipline, she admitted that the industry’s reward system often feels unfair.
“REAL TALK: napapaisip nalang ako minsan dito sa industriyang ito,” Kakai began. “Mas malaki ang bayad sa mga sintunado, walang professionalism sa trabaho. VERY SAD REALITY,” she added.
Still, Kakai made it clear that she continues to give her best in every performance—regardless of recognition or pay—because that’s how she was trained.
“Sige na lang kase I was trained to DO my 200% all the time and keep showing UP. Death nga lang ang excuse. Ayan ang disiplinang nakuha ko sa mga theater mentors ko. THANK GOD,” she shared.
The post came alongside a short video showing her rehearsing for upcoming performances. In the caption, she shared how she meticulously prepares for her shows, from song choices to choreography and outfits.
“Sinisigurado ko talagang may practice at review day o choreo ang bawat upcoming performance ko sa events. I always plan ahead with songs, outfits, and sometimes curate every medley na ipapagawa,” she wrote.
While Kakai didn’t mention any names, her statement quickly stirred speculation among netizens, with some guessing she might be calling out new singers who rose to fame through social media or reality shows. Others agreed with her sentiment, pointing out that in showbiz, connections and charisma often outweigh raw talent.
Despite being dubbed one of the most hardworking performers in local entertainment, Kakai has often been described as “underrated” — something she has learned to embrace.
In past interviews, Kakai said she finds fulfillment not in fame or wealth, but in longevity and the respect she’s earned from her peers.
“Hindi lahat nabibigyan ng break o spotlight, pero ‘yung disiplina at respeto sa trabaho mo, ‘yon ang magpapatagal sa’yo,” she once said.
Even as she continues to navigate the realities of showbiz, Kakai’s passion remains steadfast. “Trained ako to give my all,” she said — and clearly, she’s not backing down anytime soon.
