Kapamilya host Robi Domingo has spoken up on rumors claiming he allegedly “blocks” other hosts from landing major television projects — a speculation that surfaced after his back-to-back appearances across multiple ABS-CBN programs.
The issue arose as Domingo continued to dominate the hosting scene, with a string of shows including ‘Time To Dance’, ‘Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition’, ‘Pilipinas Got Talent Season 7’, ‘Idol Kids Philippines’ and the latest ‘PBB Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0’.
In a recent sit-down interview with actress Jodi Sta. Maria on her vlog Let’s Drink To That, Robi directly addressed the chatter, firmly denying the accusations.
“I’ve been pushing other people to do that — to kunin mo na. Sila lang ’yung hindi puwede ’yung schedule, ayaw nila ’yung budget, ayaw nila ’yung concept, so wala! Pasensiyahan tayo,” Robi said.
He clarified that he has never tried to edge out anyone, stressing that he wants to see other hosts thrive in their careers as well.
“That’s my concern lang — it’s not as if bina-block ko ’yung iba para puro ako. No, I don’t want that to happen. I want everyone to realize their potential,” he added.
The 34-year-old host also explained that decisions about casting for hosting gigs—especially for franchise shows like Idol Kids Philippines—are not made by him or even by the local network, but by the franchisor.
“When it comes to those types of shows, especially franchise shows, it’s really not up to me to decide it kung kukunin or hindi. It’s up to the franchisor. Let’s say Idol [Kids Philippines], ang process pala nun is ABS-CBN would give a list of hosts na puwede. Si Fremantle ang mamimili depende sa credentials,” he explained.
Still, Robi admitted that he doesn’t turn down opportunities that fit his schedule and credentials.
“What if they like my profile and also pasok yung schedule? Who am I to say no to a project? Big deal ’yan,” he said.
He also shared that while he’s aware of online criticisms, he treats them as opportunities to improve rather than as personal attacks.
“Honestly, before, I would always read online comments kasi that’s my way of knowing if I did well or something. It’s not validation per se pero I’m a guy na gusto ko mag-improve ng mag-improve. I’m super eager and hungry to learn and I welcome all the criticisms,” Robi said.
Currently, Robi continues to host ‘Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0’ alongside Bianca Gonzalez, Melai Cantiveros, Alexa Ilacad, Gabbi Garcia, Luis Manzano, Mavy Legaspi, Enchong Dee, and Kim Chiu — proving that collaboration, not competition, remains at the heart of his hosting journey.
