Comedian-host Vice Ganda quickly issued an apology during the live airing of ‘It’s Showtime’ on October 4, after a contestant unexpectedly mentioned a vulgar word on national television.

The incident occurred during the segment ‘Laro Laro Pick,’ which featured a group of teachers as contestants in celebration of World Teachers’ Day. While chatting with one of the finalists, the teacher casually described the outfit she usually wears to school during floods—unknowingly blurting out the word “pekpek shorts.”
Vice immediately reacted, stopping the conversation and apologizing on air.
“Ay, Ma’am sorry po, hindi po natin puwedeng banggitin ‘yon, sorry po!” the Unkabogable Star said.
The contestant quickly realized her mistake and apologized as well, clarifying that she meant “naka-maikli” instead.
Vice then quipped, laughing in disbelief, “Sa teacher pa talaga nanggaling ‘yong term na ‘yon!”
Co-hosts Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario also joined in apologizing to the viewers and the show’s regulators.
“Miss Lala, sorry po. Sorry sa MTRCB. Sa lahat po ng mga kumakain, sa lahat ng nanonood, sorry po, nabigla lang. Masyado lang po kaming naging komportable sa isa’t isa. Very sorry,” Vice said, addressing MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto-Antonio directly.
The teacher also reiterated her apology, saying, “Sorry po, naka-shorts lang po talaga,” to which Vice responded, “Maiksing-maiksing shorts.”
Vice jokingly added that she didn’t expect such a slip to come from a teacher, which drew laughter from the audience despite the awkward moment.
As of this writing, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
The noontime show previously faced suspension in 2023 over a controversial segment involving Vice and her partner, Ion Perez, during the ‘Isip Bata’ portion.
