The excitement is already in the air as the 41st PMPC Star Awards for Movies draws near, promising a night packed with sparkle, nostalgia, and celebration.

On November 30, 2025 (Sunday), the newly built Makabagong San Juan Theater (Pinaglabanan Road, San Juan) will officially welcome its very first showbiz awards event—a fitting debut for a venue designed to bring stories, artistry, and talent to life.

This year’s theme, “Bagong Dekada ng Makabagong Pelikula,” sets the tone for the night. It’s a nod to the evolving landscape of Philippine cinema, and a toast to the filmmakers, performers, and creatives who continue to push boundaries. The show streams live on iWantTFC at 6:50 PM for PHP 149 and USD 2.99, making it easy for fans everywhere to join the celebration.

Hosting duties fall to the ever-reliable and seasoned actress-TV host Gladys Reyes, joined by Miss Grand International 2024 CJ Opiaza and the charming singer-actor Marlo Mortel.

The festivities begin early as nominees and special guests arrive in their best modern Filipiniana attire for the red carpet walk at 5:00 PM. Fans gathered at the ground floor can freely watch their favorite stars glide through flashes and cheers. By 6:30 PM, rising singer-actor John Arcenas sets the tone inside the theater with a warm, musical pre-show performance.

Once the main program kicks off, Rufa Mae Quinto and Viñas Deluxe open the night with a playful, clever welcome—mixing humor, nostalgia, and just the right amount of chaos to honor the past and future of local cinema, a comedy sketch that’s as glamorous as it is entertaining.
Viñas, known from Drag Race Philippines for her electrifying stage presence, later returns for a powerful solo performance.

Midway through the program, the spotlight softens for a moment as OPM’s rising romantic voice Amiel Sol takes the stage. His smooth tone and natural charm add a touch of warmth—just the right kind of “kilig” in between the glitz.

One of the most emotional segments of the night arrives is the In Memoriam, where the entertainment industry pays tribute to beloved icons who passed away the past months. Asia’s Soul Siren Nina performs a moving musical homage honoring legendary names like Gloria Romero, Director Mike De Leon, Delia Razon, Rosa Rosal, Ricky Davao, Pilita Corrales, Freddie Aguilar, Hajji Alejandro, and National Artist Nora Aunor.

The ceremony also shines the spotlight on five figures whose contributions helped shape Philippine cinema. This year, the Nora Aunor Ulirang Artista Lifetime Achievement Award will be conferred to veteran stars Alma Moreno and Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. who are both honored and celebrated for their decades-long careers and undeniable impact on the entertainment industry.

On the filmmaking side, revered and iconic movie producer Jesse Ejercito receives the Ulirang Alagad ng Pelikula sa Likod ng Kamera Lifetime Achievement Award, recognized for producing blockbuster and award-winning movies, and for mentoring and helping launch the careers of icons like Lorna Tolentino, Amy Austria, Daria Ramirez, in 1970s.

The tribute continues with the Ethel Ramos Dean’s Lister Lifetime Achievement Award, given to seasoned PMPC members Mercy Lejarde and Crispina Belen, both marking 50 years of dedicated showbiz journalism — an achievement fans and industry peers agree is long overdue.

Another highlight is the crowning of Takilya King and Queen special awards, given to Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo, respectively. This announcement celebrates their unmatched box-office pull, specifically with the P1.9 billion worldwide gross sales of their 2024 film, “Hello Love Again,” and their tandem’s influence that extends beyond film and into pop culture.

The body of work of Kathryn and Alden continues to resonate with audiences, making this recognition a natural and well-deserved milestone.

Adding to the excitement are presenters Gary Estrada, Seth Fedelin, Sunshine Cruz, Chanda Romero, Rez Cortez, and several other surprise names who will be sharing the stage.

Behind the scenes, this year’s production is steered by GSD Studios, a fresh creative events company headed by Elai Tabilog and brought to life by the sharp vision of director Jorron Lee Monroy. Major support comes from Playtime as the official sponsor, with Puregold and event partners like San Juan City Government, PLDT, Reddit, Fat Smoke, Emperador Distillers Inc., Taters, and Little Miss Matcha helping make the celebration possible.

As the night draws close, one thing’s clear: this year’s PMPC Star Awards for Movies is shaping up to be more than a ceremony—it’s a heartfelt tribute to the artists, storytellers, and dreamers who keep Philippine cinema alive and thriving. Don’t miss this ultimate celebration of artistry and excellence! #41ststarawardsformovies
