Puregold turned Burnham Green at the Quirino Grandstand into a festival of fitness, fun, and overflowing grocery items as it held the inaugural Puregold Hakot Relay Run on Saturday, November 22.

Participants came in the thousands, with many joking that the real challenge wasn’t the three-kilometer run—but figuring out how to bring home the massive haul of Puregold giveaways they collected during the event’s unique “hakot” segment.
The first-of-its-kind relay had teams of three racing not for speed but for strategy, as each runner filled a sling bag with grocery items before tagging the next teammate. The result was an energetic, adrenaline-filled spectacle that brought families, barkadas, and entire communities together.
Puregold President Vincent Co, who joined the first wave of runners, highlighted the retailer’s mission behind the event.
“Wins come in many forms. This is a new one for us, as Puregold tries to create moments where families, friends, and communities can connect,” he said. “This Hakot Relay Run gave us a chance to do exactly that.”
All participants went home winners, receiving the Puregold Hakot Relay finisher’s medal, official race singlet, and a limited-edition grocery sling bag.
After the run, Puregold staged a Sunset Concert that transformed the venue into a lively music celebration. P-Pop acts Press Hit Play, KAIA, and G22 opened the show with high-energy performances.

But it was the appearance of Brent Manalo and Mika Salamanca—known to fans as BREKA—that drew the loudest cheers from the crowd.
The two performed solo sets before reuniting onstage to sing their collaboration track ‘What If Tayo,’ released last September. The moment sparked a wave of kilig from fans, many of whom have followed their chemistry since their time inside the ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition’ house.
In a line that delighted the audience, Brent once again assured Mika of his support, echoing his message during his Big Winner win last July: “Mika, magkaduo tayo sa loob—pero mas masasandalan mo ako ngayon na nasa outside world na tayo. Kakampi moko.”

The concert marked a vibrant close to the day’s festivities, reinforcing Puregold’s goal of creating shared moments that uplift Filipino communities and celebrate everyday wins. The success of the first Hakot Relay Run signals Puregold’s commitment to mounting more creative, community-centered events that build brand affinity while strengthening its connection with Filipino families.
