Kim Chiu has never been one to mince words, especially when it comes to matters of honesty — on or off screen.
At the blue carpet premiere and grand mediacon of her upcoming Prime Video series ‘The Alibi’ last Tuesday at Trinoma, the Kapamilya actress was asked what she considers the “worst alibi” she’s ever received from someone.

Without hesitation, Kim answered, “Worst alibi? Ang sagot na ‘hindi ko alam.’ Yeah, that’s super worst,” she said, earning amused reactions from the crowd.
She went on to explain why that line was a dealbreaker for her: “’Ba’t mo ginawa kung ‘di mo alam? Tapos ‘pag nag-respond, ‘yung sagot ko ay… wala, hindi ko na kinausap ‘yung tao. Yes, ‘yung tatanungin mo ‘ba’t ka…’ di ba nakakairita ‘yon? So wala na, iniwan ko na lang.”
Her cryptic answer instantly set social media abuzz, with fans and press alike making their own guesses about who the actress might have been referring to.
But Kim brushed it off with her trademark wit, telling the crowd, “Ba’t may ‘awww’? Di ba dapat?” — prompting even more laughter from the audience.
If Kim’s response showed her fearless personality, her upcoming role in ‘The Alibi’ proves her evolution as an actress.
Now 35, the actress said she’s ready to take on mature and emotionally layered characters — far from her past “teeny-teeny” roles.
“Tapos na tayo sa 16-year-old role na teeny-teeny,” Kim said. “Pero favorite ko talaga ‘yung mga magaan at nagpapatawa. Pero ‘pag tina-track ko ‘yung journey ko dito sa industriya, parang nahati ko na siya sa teens, twenties, at ngayon sa 30s — sabi ko, it’s my skin!”
She admitted that filming some of her more daring scenes in The Alibi — where she portrays Stella, a seductive escort with a tragic past — wasn’t easy.
“Medyo mahirap gawin pero gusto ko lang magpakita ng bago,” she said, turning emotional during the media conference. “Sa mga nagsasabing hindi ako marunong sa ganitong klaseng role, ‘eto na ‘yon. I want to prove them wrong — that I can do more.”
Kim also thanked her leading man Paulo Avelino for his professionalism and support during their intimate scenes.
“Si Pau, malaking tulong din siya dahil nakita ko ‘yung respeto niya sa akin,” she said.
In ‘The Alibi’, Kim and Paulo reunite after the success of ‘Linlang’ for a mystery-romance series filled with secrets, deception, and dangerous love.
Kim plays Stella, a woman working as an escort to support her broken family. Her life takes a dark turn when she meets Vincent (Paulo), the heir to a powerful media empire who becomes the prime suspect in a murder case.
To save his name, Vincent pays Stella to serve as his “alibi” — but both are hiding secrets that threaten to destroy them.
The series also stars John Arcilla, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Sofia Andres, Irma Adlawan, Rafael Rosell, Thou Reyes, and Romnick Sarmenta, among others. Directed by Onat Diaz, Jojo Saguin, and FM Reyes, the show is produced by ABS-CBN’s Dreamscape Entertainment.
‘The Alibi’ premieres November 7 on Prime Video, with new episodes dropping every Friday in the Philippines and in over 240 countries and territories. (with reports from Aldrine Benitez)
