For seven years, Vice Ganda and Ion Perez have been one of the most admired couples on Philippine television — their love story inspiring fans not just from the LGBTQIA+ community but from all walks of life.

But behind their laughter and on-screen chemistry, the two revealed they once faced one of the toughest challenges in their relationship — the “cake incident” that led to their temporary suspension from ‘It’s Showtime’.
In their latest vlog, the couple reflected on that painful chapter and how it tested their bond both as partners and as colleagues.
“Doon ako nagsimulang ma-depress,” Ion admitted. “May time nga sinabi ko sa kanya ayoko na, e. Gusto ko na magpaalam sa It’s Showtime, ayoko na kasi.”
Vice recalled how heavy the ordeal was, describing it as a time when they both felt judged and misunderstood.
“Sobrang bigat nung challenge na ‘yun,” Vice said. “Iyon ‘yung time na kailangan namin iparamdam sa isa’t isa na ‘magkakampi tayo.’ Hindi puwedeng hindi sabay maka-recover. Kailangan sabay tayo maka-recover.”
He added that they leaned on each other when no one else could truly understand what they were going through.
“Kailangan sabay kami kasi sabay kaming nasaktan, sinaktan, hinusgahan. Kaya kailangan magsuportahan kaming dalawa,” Vice continued. “Walang malakas sa amin noon — we chose to stay weak together.”
The couple said there were days when they barely had the energy to get up, eat, or sleep. But through therapy sessions and mutual support, they slowly began to heal and rediscover strength in their partnership.
“Kaya namin naramdaman na, ‘Ay, mahal talaga natin ang isa’t isa,’” Vice shared. “Kasi hindi tayo nagkanya. Pinili natin magsama tayong dalawa.”
Now, Vice and Ion continue to bring laughter and good vibes to millions of viewers every day on ‘It’s Showtime’, airing weekdays and Saturdays on GMA Network and ABS-CBN channels.
The couple also recently celebrated their 7th anniversary with a quiet yet romantic getaway at a lake house in Rizal — a symbol of how far their love has come despite the storms they’ve faced together.
“Wala na kaming kailangang patunayan sa isa’t isa,” Vice said. “Ang simple-simple lang namin sa bahay. Pero mahal namin ang isa’t isa — at doon kami masaya.”
