Carla Abellana surprised fans and friends after she publicly shared the momentous announcement of her engagement through an Instagram post on Monday night.
The Kapuso actress uploaded a photo of two hands clasped together—one clearly hers, adorned with a sparkling engagement ring—while still keeping her fiancé’s identity hidden.
Carla captioned the post with three white heart emojis, followed by a Bible verse from Jeremiah 29:11: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.’”
Although she has not revealed when or where the proposal took place, the post immediately drew a flood of congratulatory messages from fellow celebrities such as Coney Reyes, Rabiya Mateo, Andrea Torres, Jessy Mendiola, Max Collins, Chynna Ortaleza, Rita Daniela, Nikka Valdez, Sophie Albert, Shaira Diaz, and Jodi Sta. Rumors of a December 27, 2025 garden wedding with a doctor began circulating months earlier, and while Carla neither confirmed nor denied the details at the time, she admitted she was in a good place both personally and professionally.
“Of course! Ang dami kong aso. I finally moved into my dream house. Masaya ako, kasama ko ang family ko. Nakakapag-date ako. So, masaya. Masaya sa work, masaya sa private life,” she said during her ‘Selda Tres’ press conference last September.
She also acknowledged she had begun dating again: “Sabi ko naman po, nagde-date po ako… Nababanggit ko na po sa mga interviews na nag-try na po akong mag-dating. Nakakailang date na po ako. So, masaya po ako. At least, nakakaya ko na po, na-e-explore ko na po yung ganung side.”
When asked if she would still attend the Metro Manila Film Festival 2025 awards night—scheduled on the same date as the rumored wedding—Carla responded: “Aba, siyempre naman po! Bakit hindi?”
She added that she prefers to protect her privacy this time: “Kung totoo man po iyon o hindi, of course that’s part of my private life. I would like to keep it private… So, kung may kailangan man po akong sabihin, sa akin po manggagaling yun nang diretso at hindi po sa iba.”
Pressed about the engagement rumors before she confirmed it, Carla previously quipped: “I invoke my right to self-incrimination. So I refuse to say yes, I refuse to say no.”
