Actor Dustin Yu has publicly apologized to his close friend and fellow Kapuso star David Licauco after the latter admitted that he has been missing the “old Dustin” due to their lack of time together amid Yu’s increasingly hectic schedule.

In a recent interview with ’24 Oras’, Yu said he felt guilty after watching Licauco’s earlier remarks, where the actor shared how much he misses his friend, who has lately been “missing in action.”

“Nakita ko ‘yung interview niya. Sabi ko, if there’s something na parang may napi-feel siya, ‘you can talk to me anytime,’” Yu said.

Yu admitted that he personally reached out to Licauco to apologize and explain his side.

“Sabi ko, sorry. Part of me would also want to apologize kasi parang na-realize ko na noong time na ‘yun, busy din naman siya. Pero ako kasi noon, hindi ako busy, so ako ‘yung laging available,” he said.

“Ngayon, busy na kaming pareho,” Yu added.

According to the actor, their schedules have become nonstop, leaving them with little to no time to go out or spend time together.

“So, ‘yun ‘yung gusto kong i-explain sa kanya — na ‘yung schedule talaga namin tuloy-tuloy. As in, wala na kaming time para lumabas pa,” he explained.

Despite this, Yu said he fully understands where Licauco is coming from.

“Pero I get him. Super! Valid naman,” he said.

Licauco had earlier shared in our interview that he misses his friend, saying, “Miss ko na ‘yung dating Dustin. Siya ‘yung hindi nagpapakita! Naging busy na ako sa showbiz, pero siya ‘yung priority ko. Eh, ngayon, anyare? Same lang ‘yun! Noong ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra,’ grabe ‘yung busyness ko noon, kung saan-saan ako, pero lagi ko siyang kasama.”

Yu’s workload has significantly increased since his stint on ‘Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition,’ which ended in July. Since then, the young actor has been juggling multiple projects simultaneously.

Actor Richard Gutierrez, who is working with Yu in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2025 entry ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins,’ previously noted that Yu sometimes arrives on set with barely any sleep due to his packed schedule.

Yu and Licauco are known for their close friendship on and off screen and have worked together in Kapuso dramas such as ‘Pulang Araw’ and ‘Mano Po Legacy: The Family Fortune.’
