Gerald Anderson has made it clear he is not searching for a new relationship following his breakup with Julia Barretto, saying his priority now is his career and self-development.

“No, I don’t think so. Ang main focus ay building my professional career sa personal life. Trying to absorb muna,” the actor said when asked whether he plans to enter a new romance.
He added, “Kapag naghahanap ka ng love life, hindi darating ‘yan. Darating lang ‘yan unexpectedly. So, right now, I’m just focused sa work. Nakikita n’yo naman, eh. Iba ‘yung drive ko ngayon.”
Anderson also reiterated that he is “single po talaga” amid rumors claiming he and Barretto had reconciled. The speculation resurfaced after the two were seen at a relative’s wake two months ago, but the actor firmly denied it.
“Maraming balita na I think responsibilidad ng publiko na alamin o kung ano ‘yung fake news at kung ano ang totoong news, hindi lang po sa industriya ng showbiz kundi sa lahat. Mag-ingat po kayo sa fake news at responsibilidad n’yo rin po ‘yan,” he stressed.
The actor is currently busy juggling acting projects, directing, and producing. He confirmed that he will be co-producing several films and series next year and is committed to improving himself while staying single.
“Focused ako sa growth as a person… dahil wala naman sigurong perpektong tao. So, being single right now, I’m taking time talaga na pag-aralan ko ano pang mga pwede ko pang i-improve bilang isang tao,” he said during the Spotlight press conference of Star Magic.
As one of the producers of ‘Rekonek’, an official entry to the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival, Anderson said he is motivated to create work worthy of the audience’s hard-earned money, referencing the current discussions about the P500 Christmas budget.
“Kung P500 lang ang budget, which is tama, napaka-maliit niyan sa panahon ngayon… that motivates me even more as an actor and a producer na magbigay ng magandang produkto kasi alam mo gaano kahirap kitain ang 500 na ‘yan,” he said.
Anderson added that his goal is for audiences to leave cinemas “ng nakangiti,” even briefly escaping the realities of the country’s challenges. “Maganda lahat ang entries pero sana unahin ‘yung Rekonek,” he added.
The actor also highlighted the significance of releasing a Christmas film this year. “Matagal na tayong walang Christmas movie sa MMFF… Rekonek is the only Christmas movie. But then again, ginagamit ko rin siya as a learning experience. Kung anong matutunan ko para sa mga susunod na proyekto na gusto ko i-produce,” he said.
The cast of ‘Rekonek’ includes Gloria Diaz, Zoren Legaspi, Carmina Villarroel, Cassy Legaspi, Mavy Legaspi, Andrea Brillantes, Bela Padilla, Kokoy de Santos, and more. The film, directed by Jade Castro, opens in cinemas on December 25. (with reports from Lau Balocos)
