From record-breaking watch time in Korea’s League of Legends scene to massive peak audiences driven by mobile esports in Southeast Asia, 2025 delivered a clear snapshot of where competitive gaming truly thrives. Most Watched Esports Events of 2025
The most-watched esports tournament of 2025 was the LCK 2025 Season. This new format of Korea’s regional League of Legends league replaced the old Winter, Spring, and Summer seasonal tournaments. In 2025, LCK 2025 Season matches racked up over 161 million Hours Watched (HW), even surpassing the 2025 World Championship. The league’s long run — from April through the end of September — played a big role in achieving this record viewership.
The 2025 World Championship ranked second, with 136.4 million HW. By comparison, last year’s League of Legends World Championship reached 190 million hours HW. The difference is largely due to the format, as last year’s tournament ran 20 hours longer.
Third and fourth place in the rankings went to two seasons of MPL Indonesia. As the most popular regional league in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, it consistently posts strong audience numbers and, in some viewership metrics, has long outperformed world championships in other esports titles.
Both Counter-Strike Majors secured spots in the top 10 most-watched esports tournaments, with the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 edging out the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 in total Hours Watched. Notably, neither Major made it into the rankings based on peak concurrent viewership.

Only League of Legends and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang events made it into the rankings by Peak Viewers (PV). These two esports titles have dominated the industry for years and continue to widen the gap over their competitors. By comparison, in 2024 the top 10 by peak viewership still included a Counter-Strike Major and an international Valorant event. In 2025, titles from Riot Games and Moonton shut everyone else out of the top tier.
The 2025 World Championship was the most popular esports tournament of the year by peak concurrent viewership. Ahead of the event, many analysts expected it to set a new all-time viewership record for the industry, but it ultimately fell short of surpassing the 2024 World Championship. Still, its peak viewership of 6.75 million during the grand final between T1 and KT Rolster far surpassed that of any other tournament held in 2025.
Most of the other tournaments in the rankings, however, managed to break their own records. For instance, Mid-Season 2025 raised its peak viewership from 2.8 million to 3.4 million viewers during the final match between Gen.G and T1. The event has set a new record for six consecutive years and shows no signs of slowing down.
MPL Indonesia Season 15 and MPL Philippines Season 15 also entered the top 10, each setting new peak viewership records for their series. International events followed the same trend, with ESL Snapdragon Pro Series: Mobile Masters 2025 and the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2025 also posting new all-time peak viewership highs.
The MLBB World Championship is missing from the list because it was not held in 2025. The M7 World Championship is scheduled for January 2026, and its viewership numbers will be included in next year’s rankings.
