Former ‘Goin’ Bulilit’ star John Manalo sparked online discussion after openly criticizing a proposed glass walkway project in La Trinidad, which has been promoted as a future tourist attraction.

Manalo shared a post from the Facebook page ‘WOW – Cordillera’ that detailed the planned structure, described as the first-ever glass walkway in La Trinidad. According to the post, the attraction will feature a transparent glass floor supported by steel frames and beams, allowing visitors to see the landscape below. At the end of the walkway, large sculpted hands are set to rise as a symbolic centerpiece and designated photo spot once construction is completed.
Reacting to the project, Manalo questioned its concept and expressed disappointment over what he viewed as misplaced priorities in developing tourist attractions in the Cordillera region.
“Jejemon talaga ng Pinas. Ganda-ganda ng Cordillera. Dami pang puwedeng gawin,” Manalo wrote in the caption of his post.
He further linked the project to governance issues, adding, “Kung sino sino lang kasi nakaupo sa Pinas eh. Sobrang jeje anlala.”
Manalo’s remarks quickly drew mixed reactions from netizens. Some agreed with his sentiment, saying the glass walkway lacked originality and did not reflect Cordilleran culture, while others defended the project as a potential boost to local tourism and the economy, provided safety and proper planning are ensured.
As of this writing, the local government of La Trinidad, Benguet has not released any official statement or response regarding Manalo’s comments or the public reactions surrounding the glass walkway project.
