Ria Atayde said she was unaware of any alleged confrontation between John Lloyd Cruz and Robi Domingo during her wedding reception to actor Zanjoe Marudo last December 23.

Reports earlier surfaced claiming that Cruz and Domingo were involved in a tense exchange during the reception, following a story shared by showbiz insider Ogie Diaz. According to the account, the alleged confrontation happened during the afterparty and reportedly drew the attention of some guests.
A source told ABS-CBN News that the moment occurred later in the evening and described it as “quite a scene,” adding that Cruz allegedly raised his voice and that a few attendees stepped in to de-escalate the situation.
The same source emphasized, however, that the newlyweds were not offended by Domingo’s onstage remarks and chose not to make an issue out of it.
ABS-CBN News spoke with Atayde during a special screening of her Metro Manila Film Festival entry, where she was asked directly about the reported incident.
“If something happened between them, they kept it away from me,” Atayde said. “It wasn’t something that disrupted the event or anything, it went very smoothly. It was a beautiful night.”
Atayde also expressed gratitude to their guests for respecting the couple’s request to keep the celebration private, including a strict no-phone policy.
“It was what we wanted from the start. It was non-negotiable to have a party like that. Sometime you watch SDE (same day edit videos), and you see everybody’s phones are up. Iba kasi ‘yung feeling na you’re all there enjoying the moment,” she said.
She added, “Our wedding was intimate. It had our friends and families. We’re so grateful that they all showed up for us.”
“It was just a nice celebration of our love, a nice celebration of everyone who has been a part of our story as a couple,” Atayde said.
As of this writing, neither Domingo nor Cruz has released an official statement addressing the reported incident.
