SNAP, Connected Women, and Aboitiz Foundation empowers women in Ifugao through digital skills

Renewable energy provider SN Aboitiz Power Group (SNAP) continues to advance inclusive growth and community development by empowering women in its host communities through the Elevate AIDA (Artificial Intelligence Data Annotation) digital skills training program.

Elevate AIDA equips women with the skills needed to participate in the digital remote workforce, particularly in data annotation tasks such as image identification, categorization, and labeling using computer-based technology.

In partnership with Connected Women’s (CW) Elevate AIDA Program and with funding from Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (AFI), SNAP facilitated the selection of prospective candidates for the program. An online orientation was conducted on October 14 and 15, 2025, with approximately 80 women participating. From this group, selected participants advanced to a 20-day data annotation training program and on-the-job training (OJT), which was held from December 10 to 22, 2025.

On January 15, 2026, 44 women from Ifugao successfully completed Batch 2 of SNAP’s Elevate AIDA program. The graduates came from the municipalities of Mayoyao, Lamut, Lagawe, Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista, Banaue, and Kiangan.

The second batch builds on SNAP’s first Elevate AIDA cohort, which graduated 49 women in 2023 from host communities in Ramon, Isabela; Alfonso Lista, Ifugao; and Itogon and Bokod in Benguet.

“Programs like Elevate AIDA reflect SNAP’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development in our host communities,” said Joseph Yu, President and Chief Executive Officer. “By equipping women with relevant digital skills, we open up new income opportunities that allow them to work from the comfort of their homes while still managing their household responsibilities.”

During the graduation ceremony, Ifugao Governor Jerry Dalipog expressed his support for the initiative. His message was delivered by Dra. Priscilla Pragada, Ifugao, Provincial Administrator. “We commend SNAP, AFI, CW, and all partner institutions for their shared vision and unwavering collaboration, which has made meaningful development possible through unity, foresight, and shared responsibility. Let us sustain our collaboration to succeed and help our communities thrive.”

“We are grateful to SNAP for this project, which directly benefits the people of Ifugao Province. Making artificial intelligence (AI) training accessible is truly eye-opening and will equip our community with new skills for future opportunities brought by technological advancement,” said Lamut, Ifugao, Ifugao Mayor Mariano Buyagawan.

One of the Batch 2 graduates, Hazel Grace Lustado from Lamut, Ifugao shared her experience, she said, “although I am not a tech-savvy person and am new to the world of AI, I have learned a lot and boosted my self-confidence. This training has allowed me to add data annotation to my resume. Even as a stay-at-home mom, I can upgrade my skills, work from home, and help elevate my family.  Thank you, because when we women are empowered, we elevate lives.”

Following the in-person graduation, AFI, in collaboration with UnionBank, conducted an online session on financial literacy and cybersecurity on January 16 for the Elevate AIDA graduates. This initiative aimed to help our graduates better manage their finances while working from home and to strengthen their awareness of cybersecurity risks.

Through Elevate AIDA, SNAP continues to support women in its host communities by providing relevant and useful digital skills that open pathways to sustainable livelihood opportunities.

From the first batch of Elevate AIDA in SNAP graduates, 22% (11 out of 49) are engaged in digital work and continuously attending the upskilling program of CW.
