Anko’s Galentine’s Workshop brings friends and creativity together this Valentine’s Day

Anko Store, Level 1, Trinoma, transformed Valentine’s Day into an afternoon of creativity and connection at its Galentine’s Workshop, welcoming Anko Club members, families, and friends to explore watercolor card-making with Vergel Gregorio of the Weekend Watercolor Circle and create custom flower bouquets with Cecil Basco of Petal Corner Flower Bar. The workshop offered an intimate, hands-on celebration where love, friendship, and artistry intertwined.

Guests arrived at tables lined with Anko’s signature arts-and-crafts supplies, from watercolor paints and brushes to ceramic mini vases ready to hold freshly arranged blooms. The atmosphere was calm, inviting, and quietly festive—far removed from the commercial rush of Valentine’s Day.

With Vergel guiding each brushstroke, participants experimented with color, pattern, and design, bringing blank cards to life with personal touches. Each painting felt like a moment of pause: a chance to slow down, focus, and reconnect with creative instincts often left behind in daily routines.

After the card-making, attention shifted to the flower bar. Petal Corner Flower Bar provided blooms in every hue, and Cecil Basco guided participants in arranging them into personalized bouquets. The process was tactile and meditative: petals were trimmed, stems aligned, and colors thoughtfully paired. Anko’s ceramic mini vases elevated each arrangement, turning a simple craft into a keepsake worthy of display. Conversation flowed naturally around the tables, and laughter punctuated the quiet concentration, creating a feeling of shared purpose among strangers and friends alike.

The workshop extended beyond painting and floral design. Complimentary candle calligraphy sessions led by Shiela Torralba allowed attendees to personalize candles, transforming everyday items into unique, meaningful gifts. Free Anko balloons added a playful touch, while the store’s curated selection of home and lifestyle products demonstrated how everyday objects can be woven into moments of joy, connection, and thoughtful living.

The experience highlighted the power of simple rituals. Cards, flowers, and handcrafted items became vessels of expression, proving that meaningful celebrations do not need to be lavish. Attention to detail—watercolor techniques, floral placement, and the interplay of texture and color—elevated ordinary materials into objects that carry emotion and intention. Even a brief encounter with these creative activities left a lingering sense of calm and fulfillment, a reminder that shared experiences often matter more than grand gestures.

Anko’s Galentine’s Workshop also showcased the accessibility of creativity. Every material used during the session could be purchased in-store, making it easy for guests to recreate the experience at home. From watercolor sets and sketch pads to scallop glass candles, trinket bowls, and ceramic vases, each item offered a practical and joyful way to engage in creative self-expression. By blending artistry, design, and everyday practicality, the workshop encouraged participants to extend the spirit of Valentine’s Day beyond a single afternoon and into everyday life.

By the end of the session, each attendee left with a handmade card, a custom flower arrangement, and a subtle but lasting shift in perspective: a reminder that creativity, mindfulness, and connection can be cultivated in small, intentional acts.

The Galentine’s Workshop proved that Valentine’s Day can be about more than romance; it can be about friendship, self-expression, and the joy of crafting moments that linger long after the flowers fade and the paint dries. (with reports from Geoffrey Bienes)
