King of Talk Boy Abunda addressed on national television the controversial statements made by former actor Alvin Aragon regarding the LGBTQIA+ community and parents who openly support their LGBTQIA+ children.

During the February 25 episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the veteran host said he initially did not want to comment but felt compelled to respond after many asked for his opinion.
“Para sa akin po, he crossed a line. Sumobra siya noong nagpangalan siya ng mga magulang, ‘Tingnan mo, sina K Brosas, Ian Veneracion, si Gloc 9,’ na parang hindi tama. In other words, what he was trying to say was hindi tama na ine-embrace nila ang kanilang LGBT children dahil hindi ‘yan nakasaad sa kautusan ng Diyos,” Boy said.
Boy said what struck him most was the implication that only one parenting style is correct.
“Para bang sinasabi ni Alvin na ‘Ito ang tamang parenting style. Tama kami dahil hindi namin pinapayagan, hindi namin tinatanggap.’ And as opposed to these people na who chose to embrace their children with love, with dignity, with kindness, with compassion. And hindi lamang ‘yung mga pinangalanan ni Alvin, tinamaan din kami at marami pang tao na piniling mahalin ang kanilang mga anak,” he added.
Addressing Alvin directly, Boy stressed: “What am I trying to say? Alvin, you cannot impose your faith, you cannot impose your parenting style, you cannot impose yourself on us. ‘Yun sa akin, ang sobra dahil wala kang pakialam. At walang pwedeng humusga sa amin, walang pwedeng magsabi sa amin. Not you, not anyone.”
Boy emphasized that while he respects Alvin’s faith, personal beliefs should not be imposed on others.
“I’d like to be gracious to Alvin because he’s coming from a point of faith, kaniyang paniniwala. Totoo ‘yung kaniyang paniniwala.”
He also cited Pastor Nixon Ng of Victory Church, who urged Christians to practice grace, especially toward those who may be overly passionate in their faith.
Reflecting on the broader issue of faith and judgment, Boy shared his own perspective as a member of the queer community.
He questioned narratives that condemn LGBTQIA+ individuals and supportive parents, reiterating his belief in a compassionate God.
To conclude, he quoted St. John of the Cross: “Sinabi ni St. John of the Cross, and listen, ako gusto ko itong pakinggan ni Alvin. ‘In the evening of life, we will all be judged on love and love alone.’”
