Singer-songwriter KZ Tandingan has candidly addressed questions about motherhood, making it clear that becoming a parent should come from readiness—not pressure. Her husband, fellow musician TJ Monterde, expressed full support for her decision.

During the couple’s recently concluded four-night concert series titled In Between at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, a lighthearted moment turned meaningful when Monterde jokingly asked onstage when a baby might arrive. Tandingan responded with humor—but with substance.
“Ang pag-aanak, hindi online shopping na add to cart tapos next-day delivery,” she said, drawing laughter and applause from the audience.
Behind the joke, however, was a serious and deeply personal message. Tandingan later explained that while she does want to become a mother someday, she refuses to do so out of social expectation.
“Ayokong maging nanay kasi napre-pressure na ako,” she admitted during the concert. “Ayokong iluwal ’yung batang ito para lang pahirapan siya sa mundo dahil hindi ako prepared.”
Tandingan emphasized that motherhood should come when she feels emotionally, mentally, and practically ready. Monterde, she shared, respects and fully supports her stance.
The ‘In Between’ concert series offered fans an intimate look into the couple’s relationship, not just as performers but as partners. Directed by John Prats, the nearly three-hour show featured extended stages, moving platforms, a suspended bridge, and interactive PixMob bracelets that changed colors with the mood of each song—mirroring the emotional openness of the night.
Beyond the spectacle, the concert highlighted the couple’s shared values. Ten years into their relationship, Tandingan said she has learned to lower her guard and allow Monterde to support her fully, both personally and professionally. At present, the two are focused on building their future together, including saving for their dream home.
Monterde’s hit song ‘Palagi,’ which has become a favorite proposal anthem, added to the romantic atmosphere of the concerts, with multiple couples getting engaged during the four-night run.
Still, Tandingan’s message stood out: love is not about rushing milestones.
