Sony Music Publishing has launched its new flagship office in The Philippines (SMP PH), a strategic expansion dedicated to the development and promotion of Filipino songwriters both locally and around the world. Additionally, SMP has appointed Stephanie Ortiz as General Manager of SMP PH, effective immediately. Based in Manila, Ortiz reports to Sony Music Publishing’s President, Asia Roslyn Pineda.

SMP PH will work closely with the stakeholders in the Filipino music industry, including music labels and collection societies, to advance international networks and partnerships, and develop creative opportunities for the company’s composers and songwriters.

“Stephanie Ortiz’s appointment as General Manager of Sony Music Publishing Philippines marks a pivotal moment for our organization and the Filipino music landscape. Her extensive experience and deep understanding of the industry will drive innovation and growth, fostering a vibrant ecosystem for creativity in the region. I am confident her leadership will enhance our presence and help connect Filipino artistry with audiences around the world,” said Roslyn Pineda, President, Asia, Sony Music Publishing.

“I am thrilled that we have opened our company in the Philippines. The Philippines has an exciting domestic market and with music travelling around the world as never before, there is huge worldwide potential for Filipino songwriters. With Stephanie Ortiz and her team and Sony Music Publishing’s creative and administrative reach, the global opportunities for Filipino writers are limitless,” said Guy Henderson, President, International, Sony Music Publishing.

As General Manager of SMP PH, Stephanie Ortiz will focus on expanding the company’s creative and commercial opportunities in the market, with the Manila base providing a global home for Filipino songwriters. Ortiz brings over a decade of music industry and business experience. Ortiz previously served as Head of Digital Business at Universal Music Group Philippines, leading commercial partnerships and driving digital business growth. She later served as Head of Label for Believe Music, overseeing label partnerships and key accounts, including Universal Records, Polyeast Records and ABS-CBN’s Star Music, while also signing independent talent. Ortiz also brings cross-industry experience from BDO Unibank, Inc. where she served as Head of Contract and Risk Management and from Smart Communications, Inc. where she handled the Music category in Digital Products and Partnerships.

“It is an honor to champion Filipino songwriters, from legendary voices to emerging talent. We look forward to bringing their music to the international stage, connecting their stories and creativity with audiences everywhere and supporting their continued growth and success,” said Ortiz.

SMP PH represents an impressive songwriter and composer roster in the region, including Ben&Ben, SB19’s John Paulo Nase, Josh Cullen Santos, Justin de Dios, O SIDE MAFIA, DWTA, Ace Banzuelo, MATEO, Arnel de Pano, Mike Hanopol, Rey Valera and more.
