Vice Ganda once again became a trending topic online after delivering a politically charged joke during the noontime program ‘It’s Showtime’, prompting mixed reactions from viewers.

The quip was made during the show’s ‘Laro Laro Pick’ segment, when Vice jokingly imagined what his introduction would be if he were to join a gay beauty pageant. Asked by co-host Jhong Hilario about his possible pageant intro, Vice replied:
“Magandang tanghali sa inyong lahat. Ako po si Maria Christina Minalasmalas. Ang babaeng walang ka-buwenas-buwenas.”
He then followed it up with a sharper punchline that drew loud laughter and cheers from the studio audience: “Mula sa nag-iisang bansa na nakaranas na ang Presidente at Bise-Presidente ay ini-impeach parehas. Ang angas, Pilipinas!”
The joke referenced the recent filing of impeachment complaints against both President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte—a rare political situation that has dominated headlines in recent weeks.
Impeachment complaints against Marcos Jr. were formally filed earlier this year, while a separate complaint against Duterte was submitted on Monday, February 2. Lawmakers are scheduled to vote on the sufficiency in substance of the complaints in the coming days.
Vice’s remark quickly circulated on social media, with supporters praising his trademark wit and political satire, while critics questioned the appropriateness of political jokes on a noontime variety show.
