Social media personality Alvin Aragon is facing criticism after sharing a controversial story involving a gay acquaintance he claimed was later diagnosed with HIV.

In a circulating video, Aragon recounted how he advised the individual against engaging in same-sex relationships, citing his religious beliefs.
“Alam n’yo, may kuwento ako sa inyo. Meron akong tinuturuan na lalaki na bakla. Tinuturuan ko siya about Jesus Christ tsaka sa mga Salita Niya,” he said.
He added that the person admitted to being in a relationship with another man, prompting him to warn that such actions were “kasalanan” or sinful.
“Sabi ko, naku, kasalanan ‘yan sa Panginoong Hesus… Nag-sorry siya,” Aragon said, claiming the individual later continued the relationship.
According to Aragon, they eventually learned that the person had been diagnosed with HIV.
“Nabanggit na lang ng friend namin… meron na raw AIDS. Meron na raw HIV. So, nalungkot na lang kami… Sana nakinig siya. Kaya lang, huli na ang lahat,” he said.
The remarks quickly drew mixed reactions online, with critics pointing out that linking HIV solely to sexual orientation reinforces harmful stereotypes and misinformation.
Health experts and advocates continue to emphasize that HIV is not limited to any gender or sexual identity and is primarily transmitted through specific risk behaviors, not identity itself.
They also stress that HIV is no longer a death sentence. With proper treatment, particularly antiretroviral therapy (ART), people living with HIV can lead long, healthy lives.
Early testing, consistent medication, and access to accurate information remain key in managing the virus and reducing stigma.
