Several celebrities have expressed support for actress and television host Anne Curtis following her strong statement addressing the controversial remarks made by Quezon City 4th District Representative Bong Suntay.

Curtis broke her silence on Saturday through a lengthy social media post, describing Suntay’s comments about her during a congressional hearing as “vulgar” and a “sexualized analogy.” She also rejected the lawmaker’s apology, calling it a “non-apology,” while emphasizing that such behavior contributes to the normalization of misogyny in public discourse.
Following her post, numerous personalities from the entertainment industry flooded the comment section of her Instagram account to express their support.
Among those who publicly backed Curtis were: Pia Wurtzbach, Solenn Heussaff, Shaina Magdayao, Gabbi Garcia, Jodi Sta. Maria, Bianca Gonzalez, Karen Davila, Isabelle Daza and Georgina Wilson. Other personalities, including Camille Prats, Agot Isidro, and Ogie Alcasid, also joined the show of support.
Bianca Gonzalez wrote, “Every word in this!!!!! We stand with you Anne.” Solenn Heussaff commented, “Amen!!!” while Pia Wurtzbach reacted with raised-hands emojis in solidarity.
In her statement, Curtis said she initially stayed silent because she was focused on reuniting with her family who had been stranded in the Middle East. After returning home to the Philippines, she decided to speak up.
“Not for revenge or drama, but because remaining silent would be wrong… for me, and for every woman watching.”
Curtis also stressed that the issue goes beyond a single incident.
“You’ve become the poster boy of something much bigger: a culture that still thinks it’s acceptable to talk about women this way.”
She added that women are not props for commentary, emphasizing that misogyny disguised as humor remains misogyny.
The controversy began during a House Committee on Justice hearing on March 3, when Suntay referenced Curtis in an analogy while discussing the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.
The remark drew swift backlash from lawmakers, women’s rights advocates, celebrities, and netizens, many of whom criticized it as sexist and inappropriate.
Curtis also revealed that she is seeking legal advice and considering her options, while urging authorities to uphold accountability and respect for women in public office.
