After 16 years of performing on the theater stage as both an actor and singer, David Ezra is now ready to pursue acting in front of the camera.

The theater performer—who is also the son of award-winning OPM singer Dulce—recently signed a management contract with Viva Artists Agency (VAA), headed by Vic del Rosario Jr..
With the new management deal, Ezra is expected to receive more opportunities in television and film projects under the Viva banner.
Ezra has spent more than a decade performing in stage productions before making his film debut in Isang Himala, which competed in the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival in December 2024.
During a recent press conference organized by VAA, the actor shared details about his meeting with Viva’s chairman and the plans discussed for his career.
“I met with Boss Vic. Hindi ko ine-expect because I don’t know how this works. Parang meron ba siyang time to meet with me? Does he know me? Is he aware who I am?”
Ezra said he was surprised by how well Del Rosario already knew about his background.
“Hindi ko ine-expect lahat. Nu’ng nag-meeting kami, like, two hours. And he was very interested sa background ko, and he knows about my credentials.”
According to Ezra, Del Rosario expressed interest in developing him further as an actor.
“So natuwa po ako sa meeting na ‘yon kasi sabi niya, ‘Yung credentials mo, very impressive. Ang tagal mo na sa music industry, sa theater industry, pero sa ngayon, parang mas nakikita kita more being as an actor.’”
Ezra welcomed the idea of expanding his career into television and film.
“Sabi ko, ‘Sige po.’ Sabi niya, gusto niya ako i-push more for TV and film. Sabi ko, gusto ko po ‘yon kasi it’s going to be a new avenue for me.”
Having spent more than a decade performing onstage, he said he is eager to test his craft in front of cameras.
“Ang tagal ko nang 15 years sa stage so gusto ko naman, me as an artist also, to try kung paano ba sa harap ng mga camera.”
“Excited ako for that, game na game ako. It’s going to be beneficial for me as an actor and artist kasi matutulungan niya ako sa pag-hone ng craft ko.”
Ezra also revealed that Del Rosario mentioned actors Carlo Aquino and JC Santos while discussing the kind of roles he might take on.
“Nabanggit ni Boss Vic sina Carlo Aquino and JC Santos. Parang kailangan nila ng someone like me, dramatic actor na nasa age range ni Carlo and ni JC.”
The comparison left Ezra both honored and grateful.
“Sabi ko, ‘Wow, kung mabibigyan ako ng ganoong opportunity, thank you very much.’”
“Si Carlo, I only met him once. Nu’ng MMFF parade. Sabi ko sa kanya, ever since bata ako, pinapanood ko siya, so to be compared to someone like that, siyempre, nakakataba ng puso.”

During the press event, Ezra also gave members of the entertainment press a short musical sample, including a line from his mother’s iconic 1979 hit ‘Ako ang Nagwagi, Ako ang Nasawi.’
Laughing afterward, he remarked: “This is the first time I’ve done that.”
