On March 4, 2026, at the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati, performers, media personalities, and improv enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the Manila Improv Festival 2026 Media Launch, signaling the return of Asia’s largest improvisational theater and comedy festival from March 25 to 29, 2026.
Irvinne “Irvs” Redor, Festival Producer, welcomed the crowd, outlining the festival’s theme, “Rise to the Moment,” and previewing the dynamic roster of local and international performers ready to fill the stage with spontaneous energy, creativity, and laughter.

The evening opened with a burst of movement and sound as SPIT Manila, in collaboration with Galaw.Co Dance Theater and Drum Circle PH, performed a high-energy improv sequence that immediately captivated attendees. Quick-witted skits, interactive games, and theatrical improvisations highlighted the Philippine talent on display, offering a taste of the unpredictability and excitement the festival promises. Groups like Housekeeping Improv, Noted with Thanks, Isprikitik Improv, and Buwan ng Wika Improv were spotlighted, each demonstrating unique approaches to audience engagement and comedic timing.
International performers were introduced through engaging video previews, including Oshow (Japan), Landry and Summers (US), Formosa Improv Group (Taiwan), Beijing Improv (China), Improv Lore (India), The Joy Riders (Australia), Imfrog (South Korea), and Les Musicables (Singapore). Each group’s style, ranging from musical improvisation to narrative-driven skits, offered glimpses of the global perspectives that the festival brings together, emphasizing the universality of humor and creativity.
Workshops were another highlight of the launch. Attendees participated in short exercises designed to simulate full festival sessions, emphasizing spontaneity, collaboration, and risk-taking. Through these interactive moments, the audience experienced firsthand how improvisation encourages creative thinking, teamwork, and confidence-building—skills that extend beyond the stage. Over 30 full workshops will take place during the festival, led by local and international improvisers covering short-form games, long-form narrative creation, applied improv, and even business communication through improvisation.
The media launch also celebrated emerging talent through the MIF Spotlight Awards, honoring outstanding contributions in the Philippine improv scene. Isprikitik Improv received recognition for Best Ensemble Performance, Noted with Thanks for Most Innovative Format, and Housekeeping Improv for Outstanding Audience Engagement. Winners were presented with festival passes, cash prizes, and mentorship opportunities, providing both recognition and support for continued growth in the craft. These awards highlighted the festival’s dual role as both a platform for entertainment and a nurturing ground for improvisational talent.

Sponsors and partners were formally acknowledged, including Celeteque, Sunlife, GrabCar, GrabFood, CDO Foodsphere, McDonald’s, Nestle KitKat, Evian, and Australia’s Own, along with event and hotel partners Araw Rewards, UNWND Boutique Hotel, WYP, Aruga Residences, Common Ground, Emperador, and Perfect Pint. Their support enables the festival to bring world-class performances to local audiences while ensuring accessibility and sustainability for the performing arts community.
Throughout the launch, the energy in the Proscenium Theater was palpable, a mix of anticipation, laughter, and curiosity for what the festival promises. Karl Echaluse, MIF 2026 Artistic Director, reminded attendees that improvisation is more than entertainment; it is a living, breathing art form that thrives on human connection, risk-taking, and creativity. Every scene, workshop, and performance at the upcoming festival will embody that philosophy, offering a space for both seasoned performers and new audiences to engage in the magic of unscripted storytelling.
The Manila Improv Festival 2026 promises five days of unfiltered, unscripted entertainment that bridges cultures, highlights Filipino talent, and celebrates the global improv community. Tickets and workshop passes are available through manilaimprovfestival.com/tickets, and updates will be shared on the festival’s social media platforms. With over 70 local groups, 20 international ensembles, and more than 30 workshops, the festival is set to transform Rockwell into a hub of creativity, laughter, and connection, giving audiences a chance to truly rise to the moment.
