Actor Zanjoe Marudo joined others in speaking out against the alleged disrespectful remarks directed at actress and television host Anne Curtis by Quezon City Representative Bong Suntay.

Marudo shared his thoughts during the special screening and media conference for his upcoming series ‘The Silent Noise,’ where he stars alongside Angelica Panganiban.
When asked about the issue involving Curtis, the actor initially responded with humor.
“Hindi ako ready dito, ah,” Marudo joked.
He then gave a more serious response, emphasizing the importance of respect.
“Siyempre, hindi maganda na nababastos ang mga babae, ‘di ba? Lalo na sa kahit anong form. Hindi lang naman dahil may asawa ako o may mga kapatid akong babae. Hindi lang naman babae—lahat ng klase ng tao sa paligid mo, sa mundo, kailangan mong irespeto,” he said.
When asked how he might react if a similar situation happened to his wife, actress and producer Ria Atayde, Marudo answered playfully at first.
“I don’t think may gagawa sa ‘kin nu’n,” he said, drawing laughter from those present.
However, he added that any response would depend on the circumstances.
“Kung talagang mali, magre-react ka rin, ‘di ba? Depende. Mahirap magsalita nang wala ka naman du’n sa posisyon na ‘yun,” he explained.
Marudo stressed that the core issue is respect.
“’Yun lang naman ang pinakapunto ro’n—respeto talaga. Respeto sa lahat. Hindi ‘yung parang lahat na lang tayo tama, lahat na lang tayo may alam. Lalo na sa mundo ngayon, mas marami nang mali kaysa tama sa mga napapanood natin,” he said.
Meanwhile, Marudo also shared why he immediately accepted the offer to star in ‘The Silent Noise.’
The actor admitted that since becoming a husband and father, he has become more selective about projects, often considering factors such as location and time commitments—something he rarely did when he was younger.
However, he said the project was too compelling to turn down.
“Mahirap palagpasin ‘yung karakter, mahirap palagpasin ‘yung storya, ‘yung series. And siyempre thankful kami na isa kami sa mga unang gagawa ng mini-series for Prime Video,” he said.
He added that the series could also help Filipino actors reach a wider international audience.
“Malaking tulong ito para sa amin, hindi lang sa career namin. Mas mapapanood din kami globally,” he said.
Produced by ABS-CBN Studios and directed by Onat Diaz, ‘The Silent Noise’ is a tense family drama centered on secrets, loyalty, and the consequences of silence.
The series follows Eli (KD Omalin), the youngest son of Jackie (Angelica Panganiban) and Anton (Zanjoe Marudo). Eli’s life is shaken after witnessing an intimate moment between his mother and his sign language tutor Sam (Mylene Dizon).
When Sam is later found dead, suspicion falls on Anton, who shares a troubled history with her. As the investigation unfolds, hidden truths begin to surface, testing the fragile bonds within the family.
The series also stars Zaijian Jaranilla, Mutya Orquia, Joem Bascon, and Mylene Dizon, while introducing rising talent KD Omalin.
‘The Silent Noise’ will premiere on Prime Video on March 20 and will be available in the Philippines and in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
