Netizens were surprised after news broke that basketball star Kai Sotto and actress-model Rere Madrid have officially tied the knot.
The revelation first gained attention after photo and videography company Nice Print Photography shared a congratulatory post for the newlyweds on Wednesday, May 27.
The post read: “No more ‘you’ and ‘me’—only us from here on out. Officially married, @kzsotto and @reremadrid.”
Rere later confirmed the wedding through an emotional Instagram post where she admitted that becoming “Mr. and Mrs. Sotto” still feels surreal for them.
“Still feels unreal that we finally get to call this day ours (Mr & Mrs Sotto),” Rere wrote.
In her lengthy message, the actress expressed gratitude to God, their families, and the people who supported their relationship despite challenges.
“First, we want to thank God for this wonderful blessing we experienced this year. Even though we went through challenges, misunderstandings, and people who tried to break what we had, we still chose to trust each other. Because of that, our relationship became even stronger, together with the love and support of our families.”
She also thanked both their parents and siblings for being a major part of their journey as a couple.
“We also want to thank our parents and siblings for being such a big part of this beautiful relationship. Seeing our families become one is truly one of the best feelings in the world.”
Rere ended her message by looking forward to building their future together.
“Now, we’ll continue chasing our dreams together, hand in hand.”
Kai also reposted the wedding announcement on his Instagram account.
The couple officially hard-launched their relationship in July 2024 after appearing together at the GMA Gala 2024.
Kai, 24, is best known as one of the stars of Gilas Pilipinas and previously played for the Koshigaya Alphas in Japan’s B.League.
Meanwhile, Rere, 26, is also known as the younger sister of actor Ruru Madrid.
