Kim Atienza clarified that he simply wants his Threads account to remain a “safe space” free from political arguments amid the growing online discussions surrounding the Senate controversy involving Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa and the impeachment issues tied to Sara Duterte.

In a recent Threads post, the TV host shared his preference to keep his timeline “apolitical” despite followers having different political beliefs.
“I do not like politics,” Kuya Kim wrote.
“You may be pink, yellow, or DDS; let’s keep Threads the way it was, apolitical. Respect for everyone regardless of political stance. Thanks, kids. Love you all,” he added.
His statement quickly drew mixed reactions online, especially as several celebrities and social media personalities have recently become vocal regarding the political tensions happening in the Senate.
One netizen criticized the television personality’s stance and wrote: “Apolitical in times like this? Respecting different views, sure. But calling out injustice isn’t ‘being political’ for a lot of people; it’s just being human. Staying quiet to keep things comfy isn’t exactly neutrality. That’s not being matanglawin; that’s choosing to look away.”
Kuya Kim responded by saying: “Not here, please. Usap tayo sa X.”
Another commenter also told the TV host: “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.”
The longtime broadcaster then clarified that he was not claiming neutrality regarding issues but simply wanted his Threads feed to remain emotionally safe for followers.
“Ohh, I am not neutral, but my Threads timeline is. It is a safe space for everyone regardless of color,” he explained.
Several supporters later defended the TV host, pointing out that Kuya Kim has recently focused much of his platform on mental health awareness and emotional support initiatives.
One supporter commented: “I think Kuya Kim wants his Threads to stay supportive of the youth who need help emotionally and mentally. I am active in political discourse, and I support good governance and denounce the Duterte-Marcos tandem. But I support Kuya Kim’s preferred use of his Threads. He already mentioned that his political views are on X. So dun natin siya iask.”
Kuya Kim simply replied with: “Thank you.”
The television host has become increasingly active in mental health advocacy following the passing of his younger daughter, Emman Atienza, last year.
Recently, Kim Atienza also received certification as a mental wellness facilitator after completing a mental health training program.
