The ratings race between Coco Martin’s highly anticipated action-drama ‘Sigabo’ and GMA Prime’s ‘The Master Cutter’ is proving to be tighter than many expected.

Based on data from AGB Nielsen Philippines, ‘Sigabo’ came close to matching the combined ratings of its rival during its pilot week despite airing across four different television platforms.
On June 22, ‘Sigabo’ posted a combined 12.44 percent Average Minute Rating (AMR) in Total Households across TV5, ALLTV, A2Z, and Kapamilya Channel. In comparison, ‘The Master Cutter’ registered 13.2 percent on GMA Network.
The following day, June 23, the gap narrowed even further as ‘Sigabo’ recorded a combined 13.06 percent while ‘The Master Cutter’ scored 13.22 percent.

The trend was also evident in the Total Individuals category. On June 22, ‘Sigabo’ garnered a combined 8.02 percent AMR against GMA Network’s 8.13 percent. By June 23, ‘Sigabo’ improved to 8.48 percent, surpassing ‘The Master Cutter’s’ 8.12 percent.
Among the four platforms carrying the series, TV5 consistently delivered the highest viewership numbers.
The encouraging performance has fueled optimism among the production team of ‘Sigabo’, which stars Coco Martin and Julia Montes. Industry observers are now watching closely to see whether the action series can eventually overtake its Kapuso rival in the coming weeks.
