The team of the new ABS-CBN series, ‘Coco Martin’s Sigabo’, recently attended a compliance seminar led by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) in order to guide the series’ storytelling and production.

The dialogue was a refreshing initiative that not only addresses the audience’s feedback but also empowers content producers with feedback, direction, and support.
‘Sigabo’ valued the discussion and welcomed MTRCB’s help as it strives to continue bringing viewers what they want, viewing the engagement as a positive step toward helping the industry grow and evolve.
“We are all here to help this industry. So kung itinataas mo ang level ng entertainment at medyo nag fa-falter kami, we appreciate the help,” Malu Sevilla, one of the series’ directors, said.
Meanwhile, viewers are getting hooked on Sigabo’s unfolding story.
However, its use of AI for a recent wedding scene drew mixed reactions from netizens.
But it seems like more and more Filipino viewers are becoming increasingly open to AI-enhanced scenes, recognizing how the technology can help enrich the viewing experience.
“Basta ikakadagdag ng ganda ng pinanonood okey sa amin dito sa landdown under,” a Facebook user named Edna Concepcion said.
Others commented that embracing AI in local television production is the way forward for the industry.
“AI is the future! Mga pinapanood natin sa Netflix halos AI na din ah, Hollywood nga nag AI tayo pa kaya? Haha di naman full AI ah,” Riza Montelibano said, noting that it was just a scene in question, not the whole episode.
Just launched last June 22, it seems like ‘Sigabo’ has quickly become the talk of the town, sparking conversations among viewers and industry stakeholders. In fact, its premiere reached 16.1 million cumulative overnight viewers nationwide according to a report by Fifty5Blue.
Despite the challenges, the future looks bright for local television with ‘Sigabo’ in the picture.
