Philippine Coding Camp (PCC) expands its support for technology-driven education and research through capacity-building initiatives with the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).

As part of the initiative, PCC donated a Creality Hi Combo 3D printer to support the Academy’s capability development efforts, particularly the integration of additive manufacturing into instruction, training, research, and technology development.

Beyond providing the equipment, PCC conducted hands-on training for PMA academic personnel on the operation and practical applications of 3D printing. The sessions introduced participants to the fundamentals of additive manufacturing, preparing digital models for fabrication, operating the equipment, and exploring how 3D printing can support classroom demonstrations, engineering projects, prototyping, and research.

PCC also facilitated a research-writing workshop focused on the use of LaTeX, a professional document-preparation system widely used for scientific and technical publications. Subscriptions to the LaTeX-based platform used during the training were donated to the Academy by Philippine Coding Camp’s partner university in South Korea, Kumoh National Institute of Technology.

“We want to pay forward the generosity extended to us when we were just starting,” said Dr. Gabriel Avelino R. Sampedro, Founder and CEO of Philippine Coding Camp. “Through this initiative, we hope to support the Philippine Military Academy not only in developing prototypes and instructional materials but also in producing high-quality research that can contribute to innovation, capability development, and national service.”

The initiative reflects PCC’s approach of combining access to emerging technologies with practical training, institutional collaboration, and research development. It also underscores the importance of partnerships among industry, academic institutions, and international universities in strengthening the country’s science, technology, engineering, and research ecosystem.

Through the donated equipment and training, PMA academic personnel may further explore the use of 3D printing in engineering education, equipment design, rapid prototyping, simulation, laboratory instruction, and multidisciplinary research.

Philippine Coding Camp continues to work with educational institutions, government agencies, and industry partners to advance digital skills, emerging technology adoption, and innovation-driven capacity building across the Philippines.
