Actress and former ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition’ housemate Shuvee Etrata celebrated a major family milestone after her younger sister, Shaina, became the first among their nine siblings to graduate from college.
As the eldest and breadwinner of the family, the occasion carried special meaning for Shuvee, who personally attended the graduation ceremony at the University of San Carlos in Cebu to witness her sister receive her diploma.
The Kapuso actress shared photos and videos from the ceremony on her Instagram Stories, expressing both pride and joy over Shaina’s achievement.
“1 down, 7 more to go.”
In another heartfelt post accompanying a video of Shaina walking across the stage, Shuvee wrote:
“Carrying both our dreams! Love you and I’m so proud of you!”
The milestone also prompted Shuvee to reflect on the sacrifices she and her sister made while helping support their family.
In a touching tribute, she acknowledged the responsibilities they carried long before they were able to pursue their own dreams.
“We carried responsibilities long before we got to carry our dreams, but you never let that stop you. Thank you for helping me carry not just our family’s burdens, but our dreams, too.”
She continued: “Every sacrifice, every sleepless night, and every challenge has led you to this moment. I’m so proud of you.”
Ending her message with hope for the future, Shuvee added: “Here’s to the dreams we’ve fought for together—and even bigger ones we’ll achieve side by side. I love you always.”
Shaina also paid tribute to her older sister, thanking Shuvee for the sacrifices she made to ensure their family could continue moving forward.
“To Ate Shuvee… I honestly don’t know how to put everything I feel into words. Thank you. Thank you for every sacrifice you’ve made for our family. For always being my backup in every possible way. For carrying dreams that weren’t only yours but ours.”
She admitted that graduating first was bittersweet, knowing that her sister had once put her own education on hold for the sake of their family.
“This is a bittersweet moment because I know you deserve to experience this too. But I believe with all my heart that in God’s perfect timing, you will walk across that stage as well.”
Shaina also apologized for reaching the milestone ahead of her sister.
“I’m sorry I had to be the first one. I’m sorry that you had to sacrifice so much so I could finish. This diploma carries your name just as much as it carries mine. Te Shuv… graduate na jud ko.”

Before becoming a successful content creator and actress, Shuvee had been pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy at Cebu Doctors’ University. She temporarily set aside her studies to help support her family, taking on the responsibility of becoming the breadwinner while continuing to pursue her dreams in the entertainment industry.
