TCL turns Intramuros into a living gallery with the launch of the A400 Series TVs

History and innovation came together remarkably as TCL unveiled its newest A400 Series televisions at the Centro de Turismo in Intramuros. Set against the backdrop of one of Manila’s most iconic heritage sites, the launch departed from the usual tech presentation, inviting guests to experience how modern display technology can become a medium for preserving and celebrating Filipino culture.

The historic venue was transformed into an elegant exhibition space where television screens replaced traditional canvases, creating an immersive gallery that immediately captured the attention of media guests, content creators, and brand partners. Inspired by the theme “Heritage in Every Frame,” the event encouraged visitors to see the television not merely as a device for entertainment but as an artistic centerpiece capable of enriching the home even when it’s not in use.

As attendees explored the exhibition, they were greeted by the timeless masterpieces of National Artist Fernando Amorsolo displayed across the TCL A400 Series. At first glance, the works appeared to be framed paintings carefully mounted throughout the venue. It was only after looking more closely that guests realized they were viewing ultra-high-definition displays, whose vibrant colors and exceptional detail recreated the warmth and texture of Amorsolo’s original oil paintings with remarkable realism.

The experience became even more captivating as the artworks gently came to life through subtle digital animation. Rolling clouds drifted across painted skies, rivers flowed quietly through rural landscapes, and sunlight shimmered across rice fields, giving familiar masterpieces a renewed sense of movement while preserving their timeless character. Rather than overwhelming the original compositions, the animation enhanced them with restraint, allowing visitors to appreciate the paintings from an entirely new perspective.

Featured throughout the exhibition were some of Amorsolo’s most celebrated works, including Carabao Riding in Sunset, Noonday Meal, Tinikling, Dalagang Bukid, Fruit Market, The Blind Man, and Bataan. Displayed on the TCL A400 Series, each painting demonstrated the television’s impressive color reproduction and clarity, reinforcing the idea that advanced technology can also serve as a platform for cultural appreciation.

Digital animator Mark Cañega offered guests a fascinating glimpse into the creative process behind the project, explaining how each movement was carefully crafted to respect the integrity of Amorsolo’s original works. His presentation highlighted the delicate balance between innovation and preservation, illustrating how technology can breathe new life into classical art without diminishing its historical significance.

The afternoon also featured an engaging panel discussion with actress Heaven Peralejo, Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo, and content creator Jenny Yeo, who shared how the TCL A400 Series seamlessly combines functionality with design. Their conversation centered on how the television’s Art Gallery Mode transforms an everyday appliance into a decorative feature that naturally complements modern interiors while keeping Filipino art visible in everyday living spaces.

Adding a meaningful dimension to the launch, TCL announced its donation of televisions and air-conditioning units to several institutions within Intramuros, including the Centro de Turismo, the Intramuros Information Center, the iMAKE History Fortress LEGO Education Center, and the Fr. Luis G. Merino, O.S.A. Library. The initiative underscored the company’s commitment to supporting cultural preservation and educational spaces through technology.

Following the formal program, guests continued exploring the interactive exhibit, revisiting their favorite artworks and experiencing firsthand how the A400 Series shifted effortlessly between a premium television and a digital art display. Conversations throughout the venue reflected a shared appreciation for the event’s unique concept, which successfully blurred the boundaries between museum exhibition, technology showcase, and cultural celebration.

By choosing Intramuros as the setting for its latest launch, TCL delivered more than an introduction to a new product—it created an experience that honored the country’s artistic legacy while demonstrating the possibilities of modern innovation. (with reports from Lau Balocos)
