Vice Ganda and Kim Chiu have assured fans that there is no conflict between them after the comedian’s FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards acceptance speech sparked online debate for unintentionally leaving out the actress’ name.
Vice won Best Host for Entertainment at the inaugural FAMAS Broadcast Arts Awards, while ‘It’s Showtime’ also received the Best Variety Show award. During his acceptance speech, he thanked several of his co-hosts but inadvertently omitted Kim, prompting some fans to speculate that the actress had been snubbed.
Vice immediately addressed the matter during Tuesday’s episode of ‘It’s Showtime’, offering a public apology to his co-host.
“Kim Chiu, congratulations to us! Nakalimutan ko banggitin ‘yung pangalan mo kahapon. Pasensya na po. Sixteen po kasi ‘yung host. Wala akong prompter.”
Kim responded in jest, saying she had become used to being overlooked.
“Sanay na ako hindi nababanggit. Di ba nga nung nakaraan din.”
Vice replied with another joke, saying: “Di nababanggit pero pinapasalamatan ng personal.”
Despite the lighthearted exchange, some of Kim’s supporters criticized Vice on X, prompting the comedian to call out what he described as toxic fan behavior. In separate posts, he referred to the “toxicity” and “entitlement” of some fans and described their actions as “ka-cheapan.”
Kim later defended her supporters, saying she did not want the issue to escalate but believed their reactions came from genuine concern.
“Ayaw ko na sanang palakihin ito. Pero bilang mga taga-supporta, hindi naman siguro ka-cheapan ang tawag doon. Siguro marahil sa sobrang pagmamahal at supporta nila sa idolo nila ay protective sila. Hindi sa tine-tolerate ko sila pero sana hinayaan na natin ito.”
Vice, however, maintained that admiration for a celebrity should never be used to justify attacking others online.
“Sa aking mga LITTLE PONIES, hindi sapat at katanggap-tanggap na dahilan na mahal n’yo ako para maging masama kayo sa iba. Ipinagpapasalamat ko ang suporta n’yo but I will not enable your toxic behavior just because I seek your support.”
The comedian later lightened the mood by joking that he had even forgotten to mention his own mother during his acceptance speech.
“Sa mga kamag-anak ng Nanay ko sana po ‘wag n’yo kong i-bash dahil nakaligtaan kong i-mention ang Nanay ko sa speech ko kagabi.”
Amid speculation that the exchange reflected tension between the two hosts, Vice clarified that they remain on good terms.
“Ay di po kami magkaaway. Magka-message po kami now. As in.”
Kim also encouraged fans to move forward from the issue, later posting on social media: “Let’s spread love and love always!!!!”
