Walk, Run, & Roll 2026 Returns to Celebrate Sports for All

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), in partnership with MILO® Philippines, the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA), National Youth Commission, and through RunRio, proudly announces the return of Walk, Run, & Roll, a community sports event that unites persons with disabilities and non-disabled participants in a shared sporting experience on the same course.

Now in its third year, Walk, Run, & Roll continues to champion accessibility, inclusion, and equal participation in sports by creating a safe and welcoming environment where persons with disabilities, runners, families, advocates, and communities can move together and celebrate the power of sport.

The event returns to the UP Diliman AS Parking Grounds on July 26, 2026 with race categories for all fitness levels—10KM, 5KM, 3KM, and 1KM.

The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) reports that there are currently more than 2.5 million registered persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the Philippines, which calls for the need for more accessible and inclusive community programs nationwide.

PSC recognizes sports participation as a fundamental right of every Filipino and an important component of nation-building. Through such initiatives, the agency continues to fulfill its mission to create equitable opportunities for participation in sports by all sectors, ensuring that persons with disabilities are not excluded and are given the same opportunities to engage in sports and physical activities.

“When I became a PSC commissioner, I recognized the need to develop programs for persons with disabilities that go beyond focusing solely on elite athletes and para-athletes. This led us to conceptualize the ‘Walk, Run, and Roll’ initiative, which is open to persons with all types of disabilities.

As its name suggests, participants may choose to walk, run, or roll in their wheelchairs. The event is designed to promote inclusivity, encourage active lifestyles, and provide opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate in sports and physical activity at all levels,” said Commissioner Walter “Wawit” Torres during the PSA Forum on the Walk, Run, and Roll program held at the Philippine Sports Commission.

This year’s event is expected to gather around 5,000 participants from across Metro Manila and neighboring areas, with an estimated almost 10-12% of participants being persons with disabilities (PWDs). This event caters to persons with all types of disabilities participating alongside non-disabled participants. By providing a shared course and a common finish line, Walk, Run, & Roll fosters greater inclusion, promotes mutual understanding, and strengthens the spirit of unity within the sports community.

National athlete for Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team and breast-cancer survivor, Gem Tanyag, shared how the Walk, Run, and Roll 2024 revived her passion for sports. Gem also shared her experience running in the event, “Masaya yung experience kasi yung mga ibang persons with disabilities na bata yung PWDs syempre po may companion. Na kapag nakikita ka nila syempre ma-i-inspire sila na “uy yung anak ko pwede rin pala maging atleta.” Nakakatuwa lang sa aming mga atleta na nakakainspire kami at nakakabuild ng confidence sa mga bata.”

A key feature of Walk, Run, & Roll is its PWD-friendly racecourse. There will be wayfinders, ramps, and signages designed to ensure a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for participants with varying impairments. The event will also feature an interactive race village that aims to empower persons with disabilities and their allies through engaging activities, learning opportunities, and community interaction.

Emphasizing the meticulous and careful planning behind the course’s accessibility, Filipino Para-athletics Coach Joar Calvadores explained, “So, from the route itself pa lang, pinag-isipan na kailangan malawak ang kalsada. Yung mga daanan natin, walang obstacles, walang stairs. Freely makaka-navigate o makaka-push ang mga naka-wheelchair, even yung mga naka-crutches ay makakadaan nang maayos. Safety ang primary concern ng organizers. Pinakamahalaga ang inclusivity. In the majority of the aspects of the run—from the parking to the portalets—kailangang accessible. Pati ang signages, kailangang nababasa. Ang mga marshals ay magkakaroon din ng sensitivity training.”

For MILO®, the event reflects its continuing commitment to making sports accessible to every Filipino and creating opportunities for individuals to experience the values, confidence, and life lessons that sports can provide.

As Walk, Run, & Roll continues to grow, PSC and MILO® invite runners, persons with disabilities, families, advocates, and communities to come together and celebrate Sports for All in a safe, inclusive, and unified sports event.

Whether you walk, run, or roll, every participant helps create a future where opportunities in sports remain open to everyone. Join us on July 26 at UP Diliman and be part of a movement that champions fun, fairness, accessibility, and inclusion for all.

Participants may register through Race Roster and share their experience using #myMILOstory.
