Vice Ganda admits being ‘heartbroken’ after ‘It’s Showtime’ left TV5, took a year to accept MediaQuest offer

Vice Ganda admitted that it took her about a year to accept MediaQuest Holdings’ offer for a partnership, revealing that she initially felt hurt over ‘It’s Showtime’s’ departure from TV5 in 2023.

The Unkabogable Box-Office Superstar surprised members of the entertainment press on Wednesday, August 12, when she appeared at a MediaQuest event at The Lighthouse in Meralco Center for the announcement of her new partnership with the media company.

The partnership was formally sealed through a contract signing attended by MVP Group Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, MediaQuest Holdings President and CEO Victorico Vargas, and Slingshot Studios Head for Partnerships, People and Business Development Ranvel Rufino.

During the event, Vice was also introduced with a new title: ‘Queen of All Networks.’

Speaking to the press after the signing, Vice revealed that MediaQuest’s offer did not immediately result in a deal because she needed time to process what happened when ‘It’s Showtime’ stopped airing on TV5.

“Inaamin ko medyo sumama loob ko pero, ‘di ba, in this industry naman we don’t burn bridges. So ako, dahil nagustuhan ko ang layunin nila, I eventually said yes,” Vice said.

She explained that while she felt disappointed at the time, she never completely shut the door on working with TV5 or MediaQuest again.

“I allowed myself to heal muna. Parang valid naman siguro kung nagtampo ako. Pero I did not close doors. I did not burn bridges. Sabi ko nga, there was never a time na binad-mouth ko ‘yung TV5 after mawala kami sa ere sa kanila,” she said.

‘It’s Showtime’ began airing on TV5 in July 2022 before leaving the network in 2023. Its departure came as the channel became the new home of the noontime program led by Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon.

Despite what happened, Vice stressed that she never held a grudge against TVJ.

“Wala akong sama ng loob sa TVJ, ha. TVJ has nothing to do with it. Wala naman akong relationship or deal with them. Hindi naman sila ‘yung nakasakit sa akin,” she clarified.

“Wala naman silang obligasyon sa akin. TVJ was just doing their job also as well, as entertainers,” Vice added.

Vice says MediaQuest projects still being developed

While the partnership potentially opens the door for Vice to appear in projects across MediaQuest’s platforms, the comedian-host said there are no specific projects she can announce yet.

“To be honest, wala pa, hindi ko pa alam. It’s too early to tell. Pero marami na akong ideas and I’m really excited na maupuan namin ito soon,” she shared.

Vice also clarified that ABS-CBN supported her decision to enter into the partnership.

“Pinayagan naman nila ako dahil nauunawaan nila ang layunin namin sa partnership na ito and that is to further strengthen TV, to offer more content for audiences,” she said.

“Given that ABS-CBN shares the same vision naman din that we want to continue giving life to TV,” she added.

MediaQuest described the agreement as an alliance aimed at developing new projects by combining Vice’s reach and influence with the platforms under MediaQuest and the MVP Group.
