At 60, Agot Isidro is less concerned about getting older and more interested in staying healthy, protecting her peace, and taking on roles that continue to challenge her as an actress.

During an intimate media gathering on September 29 attended by LionhearTV and select entertainment press, the seasoned actress and singer shared how she has embraced becoming a senior citizen without allowing age to define what she can still accomplish.

“In-embrace ko siya talaga, yung pagiging 60. Pero yung pagka-embrace ko nu’n, meaning I took care of myself really well,” Agot said. “Yung maayos akong kumain, nag-e-exercise ako. Kapag kailangan ko ng mental break, ng mental health break, magbe-break ako. Kailangan kong mag-destress, by traveling or whatever ginagawa ko, nagyo-yoga ako.”

For Agot, reaching 60 came with a conscious effort to prepare herself for a healthy and active senior life.

“So, meron din ganu’ng preparation towards healthy senior life. Kaya hindi ako natakot, hindi ako masyadong… hindi ko ininda yung, ah, ang tanda ko na, dapat walang ganu’n. Living life, kumbaga,” she said.

Age has also changed how Agot deals with negativity.

“Medyo wala na akong pakialam sa mga sinasabi ng tao!” she said with a laugh.

For the actress, having people she loves around her, continuing to work, and still having the energy to pursue different interests matter more than outside noise.

“Feeling ko at 60, I have friends, I surround myself with people who love me and I love back. Tapos nakakagawa pa ako ng trabaho, meron pa akong energy to do all these things. So, parang kung magpapapasok ako ng mga negative vibes, or magpapadala ako sa mga negative thoughts, or negative na chatter all around me, ayoko na ng ganu’n.”

Instead, Agot said she now prioritizes calm.

“Gusto ko kalma lang, peace, ganu’n. So dini-deflect ko sila, parang force field ko yung mga masasamang energy.”

Her approach extends to her physical health. Agot stays active through running, yoga and weightlifting, although she jokingly clarified that she is nowhere near Olympic champion Hidilyn Diaz’s level.

“Siguro ano lang, para healthy lang, strong. So, wala akong iniisip na limitations,” she said.

If anything, turning 60 appears to have widened Agot’s appetite for acting roles rather than narrowed it.

“Well, especially now, parang mas open nga ako sa roles,” she said. “And you can see sa mga roles ko, parang hindi siya the usual, normal mommy, di ba? Mas gusto ko to get into interesting.”

Her 2026 slate reflects that range. Agot has appeared in ‘Ganito, Ganiyan, Ganoon’, ‘Mag-iina’, ‘Filipiñana’, ‘Patay Gutom’, and the short film ‘Elaine Elenita Elena’. She is also set to appear in the upcoming Netflix series ‘Balaraw’.

She even found a humorous connection among several of her recent characters.

“Sabi nga nila, ano daw ako eh, parang patron saint talaga ng mga absentee mothers. Like du’n sa mga movie ko na ‘Patay Gutom,’ ‘Mag-iina’, ‘Ganito, Ganoon Ganyan’, lahat ’yon, talaga mga absentee mom!” she joked.

Beyond acting, Agot returned to the concert stage in July for a two-night birthday show, reconnecting with the music side of a career that has spanned more than three decades.

And there is at least one senior-citizen milestone she is particularly happy to embrace: the discounts. Agot said she enjoys using her senior citizen card, especially when it means paying less for food.
