Before becoming the founder and CEO of Virtual Assistant Portal PH (VAPPH) and OutSmart Services, Cavita started her professional journey in a very different setting—as a teacher. Her career would later take her into the BPO industry and eventually into the world of virtual assistance and remote work, where she found another avenue to build opportunities for Filipino professionals.

Cavita recently shared that journey during a “Chikahan” with LionhearTV, held at Starbucks ABS-CBN on September 24, 2025. The conversation provided a closer look at the experiences that shaped her career, her perspective on entrepreneurship, and the people she credits for helping her businesses grow.

Rather than focusing solely on the destination, Cavita’s story reflected the different chapters that came before it.

Cavita earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology before pursuing a career in teaching. Her experience in the education sector eventually became one of the early chapters of a professional journey that would take her beyond the classroom.

She later entered the BPO industry as a call center agent, exposing her to another kind of workplace and allowing her to develop experience in customer service and communication.

The move was significant because it placed her in an environment that required her to interact with people from different backgrounds while responding to the demands of the industry.

From there, Cavita eventually found her way into virtual assistance and remote work.

What followed was a gradual transition from working within established organizations to building something of her own.

Today, she leads VAPPH and OutSmart Services, organizations centered on the virtual assistance and remote-work industry.

While Cavita’s professional history includes several career changes, one message remained particularly clear during her LionhearTV conversation: she does not see her success as something she achieved by herself.

She openly credited her team for helping her reach where she is today.

“I owe most of my success sa team ko kasi hindi naman siya magagawa on my own. So kailangan mo ng team. Ako, naniniwala ako na it all comes down with working with the right people.”

For Cavita, the statement reflects more than the practical reality of running a business. It also represents her approach to leadership.

Entrepreneurship may begin with an idea or an individual’s determination, but sustaining and growing that idea requires collaboration. In her experience, the people surrounding a leader can become an important part of turning a vision into an actual organization.

Her emphasis on the “right people” also gives context to the different roles she has taken throughout her career. Having worked as a teacher and call center agent before entering entrepreneurship, Cavita has experienced professional environments from different perspectives.

Those experiences have allowed her to understand both the individual contributor’s role and the responsibilities that come with leading a team.

Cavita’s transition into virtual assistance eventually became an important turning point in her career.

The remote-work industry provided her with an opportunity to build a business around a field that connects professionals with clients and organizations through digital platforms.

As the founder and CEO of VAPPH and OutSmart Services, Cavita has focused her professional work on the virtual assistance space, including opportunities, training, and support for professionals in the industry.

Her own career transition gives added context to that work.

She did not begin her professional life in the remote-work industry. Instead, she arrived there after gaining experience in education and customer service.

That background forms part of the story she now shares with other professionals who may also be considering a change in direction.

One of the more relatable aspects of Cavita’s story is the fact that her career did not follow a single predetermined path.

Her degree in Psychology led her toward teaching. Her professional experience then brought her to the BPO sector, before she eventually explored virtual assistance and entrepreneurship.

Each chapter introduced different challenges and lessons.

The classroom required interaction and communication. Working as a call center agent brought her into the world of customer service. Entrepreneurship required her to bring people together and build a team around a larger vision.

Rather than being separate experiences, these roles became part of a larger professional journey.

For Cavita, the transition also demonstrates that career development does not always happen in a predictable sequence. A person’s first profession does not necessarily determine where they will eventually end up.

Cavita’s reflections on her team also highlight her understanding of leadership as a collaborative process.

Her statement that success “comes down to working with the right people” places considerable importance on the relationships within an organization.

For a business leader, building a team means bringing together people who can contribute to the company’s goals while allowing the organization to move beyond what one person can accomplish alone.

That perspective has become particularly relevant to Cavita’s entrepreneurial story, considering that her businesses operate within an industry built around people and their skills.

The conversation also gave Cavita an opportunity to discuss the lessons she has gained along the way and her perspective on Filipino professionals participating in the global workforce.

Held in a relaxed setting at Starbucks ABS-CBN, the LionhearTV “Chikahan” offered Cavita an opportunity to discuss the less formal side of her professional journey—the experiences, changes, and people that helped shape it.

Her story ultimately goes beyond the transition from teacher to entrepreneur.

It is also a story about discovering new possibilities after taking an unexpected turn, carrying lessons from one profession into another, and recognizing the people who contribute to a shared goal.

From the classroom to the BPO industry and eventually to leading businesses in the virtual assistance sector, Cavita’s career illustrates how different experiences can become building blocks for a new direction.

And for the entrepreneur who now leads her own teams, one lesson remains central to her journey: success is rarely a solo effort.

As Cavita put it, “kailangan mo ng team.”  (with reports from Aljay Nevarez)
