JM Ibarra revealed that he confronted a director on the set of a content shoot after Fyang Smith told him about an alleged inappropriate remark made about her.
The JMFyang love team recounted the incident during the ‘Deep Truth’ segment of ‘Gandang Gabi Vice’, which aired on Sunday, September 20.
According to Fyang, she had already felt uncomfortable with the director’s comments during the shoot but remained respectful because he was in charge of the production.
“Nagko-content shoot ako, and then parang umabot sa point na siyempre, ang iikli ng suot, naka-tube lang ako, ganito, ganyan,” she recalled.
“Ako, una pa lang naiilang na ako, Meme, naiilang na ako kasi ang dami niyang sinasabi pero ako, siyempre, dahil direktor siya, respectful ako. Tapos, parang sobrang nabastusan ako kasi nagsumbong sa akin ‘yung assistant ng make-up artist ko. Sabi niya, ‘sabi ng direktor mo, ang sarap mo daw,’” she continued.
Fyang said she immediately messaged JM about what happened. He then went to the set to confront the director.
JM recalled asking him, “Hoy, ikaw, pumasok ka dito, anong sinabi mo kay Fyang?”
The director denied making the remark, even after they brought in the makeup artist’s assistant, who had reportedly heard it.
Neither JM nor Fyang identified the director. JM said the director was young and close to his age. When host Vice Ganda asked whether he worked for ABS-CBN, JM said he did not.
Vice and the other guests reacted to JM’s decision to confront the director. JM, however, explained that he wanted to stand up for Fyang because he was not always able to defend her from criticism online.
“Well, sa sarili ko lang, kasi, hindi ko rin naman siya madalas maipagtanggol sa bashings, sa social media kasi hindi naman ako marunong d’yan, hindi naman ako sanay d’yan,” he said.
During the same episode, Vice also asked the pair directly whether they were already in a relationship.
Fyang said they were not officially together and were in no rush to put a label on their relationship.
“Hindi pa, Meme. I mean, hindi namin siya minamadali. Kasi kung pupunta man kami doon, I mean, gusto namin i-enjoy muna ’yung journey namin nang magkasama, of course,” she explained.
JM was more direct about his feelings, saying, “Ako, basta gusto ko siya.”
When Vice asked Fyang whether she was also in love with JM, she answered, “Oo, oo naman. Kasi, nasa kanya rin naman ang hinahanap ko sa lalaki.”
