Kapamilya actress Kaila Estrada has once again spoken out about governance and public accountability, this time questioning the taxes and fees Filipinos pay amid dissatisfaction over the quality of public services.
Estrada shared on her Instagram Story a post concerning the travel tax imposed on Filipinos traveling abroad and added a pointed observation of her own.
“Isa pa ito. Filipinos pay world-class taxes, but too often receive third-world public services in return,” the actress wrote.
She followed it with an even sharper remark: “Legal na holdap.”
Her statement came amid heightened public frustration over government spending and public services, particularly as severe flooding in Metro Manila and nearby provinces has renewed discussions about infrastructure, disaster preparedness, and the use of taxpayers’ money.
Estrada’s comment resonated with some social media users who similarly questioned the different taxes and government-related fees they encounter.
“Terminal Fee, Travel Tax, Environment Fee, etc. for public/government venues. Taxes everywhere but ain’t good thing in return,” one netizen commented.
Others went further by expressing frustration over alleged corruption and calling on voters to demand greater accountability from elected officials.
Some of the online reactions included sweeping accusations against government officials. These comments reflected the sentiments of individual social media users and did not, on their own, establish evidence of wrongdoing by any particular person or agency.
Estrada’s own post likewise did not identify a specific government official whom she believed should be held responsible. Instead, her statement focused broadly on the disparity she sees between what Filipinos pay and the public services they receive.
This is not the first time Estrada has publicly weighed in on issues involving government and political accountability.
In May 2026, amid a major political issue involving the Senate, the actress reminded public officials that younger Filipinos were paying attention to their actions.
“Nanunuod at nakikinig ang mga kabataan. We see what is happening, and we will remember the decisions and actions being made today,” Estrada said at the time.
She also pointed ahead to the 2028 elections.
“Darating ang 2028, and many people will use their voices and votes to demand better leadership and accountability for the country.”
Her latest Instagram Story adds Estrada to the growing number of celebrities using their platforms to express frustration over governance and the quality of public services, particularly as Filipinos affected by recent flooding question whether infrastructure and government programs are delivering the results taxpayers expect.
