Kakie Pangilinan revealed that she and older sister KC Concepcion have not spoken in a long time, while addressing public speculation about their relationship.

In an interview with Ogie Diaz, the ‘Edjop’ star acknowledged that their family has matters they are working through but declined to discuss the details out of respect for their parents.
“I think, out of respect for my parents, I may not divulge so much information. But I can say this confidently–– she’s my sister. There’s no way around that. I don’t get why people try to detract that. Never ko naisip na half-sister ko siya,” Kakie said.
KC is Sharon Cuneta’s daughter with former partner Gabby Concepcion, while Kakie is Sharon’s daughter with husband Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.
Although they have different fathers, Kakie said she has never viewed KC as merely her half-sister.
“Of course, biologically, that’s true. But as far as I’m concerned, I love her very much. I love my sister very much, and I think I can say I miss my sister very much. We haven’t really spoken in a very long time,” she shared.
Kakie said disagreements can happen in any family and indicated that they are working through their own situation.
“Of course, I think every family naman has you know, I think, some things–– we’re working on it,” she said.
She also shared that even during the period when they have not been communicating, she still includes KC’s name whenever she orders birthday cakes for their parents.
“Every time I order birthday cakes nga for mom and dad, inuuna ko yung pangalan niya even if we haven’t seen or spoken to each other in a long time,” Kakie said.
Kakie also pushed back against narratives about their family circulating online, saying what she has seen on social media does not reflect what actually happened.
“Ang dami pong fake news and never ko pa pong nakita ’yung totoong nangyari in any shape online whatsoever,” she said.
Rather than publicly explain their private family matters, Kakie said she would prefer to let her actions speak for themselves.
“It will sound like defensive. Kaya ipapakita ko na lang everyday of my life at hindi ko na kailangang i-post na iko-contribute ko pa doon sa tsika na hindi naman totoo,” she explained.
She also addressed perceptions about her dynamic with KC, pointing to their considerable age difference.
“I think with me and Ate kasi, you know, there’s a large misconception I think about the dynamics of how that works–– ang laki ng age gap namin. For a very long time, I was a kid and I just wanted to be like my Ate,” Kakie recalled.
Kakie did not disclose what led to their prolonged lack of communication, saying she wanted to respect her parents’ privacy.

Meanwhile, Kakie is set to make her acting debut in the upcoming biographical film ‘Edjop,’ alongside Jodi Sta. Maria and Elijah Canlas.
‘Edjop’ opens in Philippine cinemas nationwide on September 16, 2026.
