Lotlot De Leon has openly expressed her approval of Jericho Rosales, the boyfriend of her daughter Janine Gutierrez.
During her guest appearance on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ on Friday, September 4, the veteran actress was asked whether she approved of Jericho as Janine’s partner.
“I love him very much,” Lotlot said. “He’s such a wonderful man. Napakabait na tao.”
Lotlot recalled that she first got to know Jericho while they were working on a television series.
“I worked with him kasi sa teleserye. So kami, si Janine, also in teleserye, and Echo was there for ‘Lavender Fields.’ Kami muna ni Echo ang magkakasama sa Benguet,” she shared.
At the time, she said she had no idea that Jericho would eventually become Janine’s boyfriend.
“And siyempre, hindi ko naman iniisip na ito pala ang magiging [boyfriend ng anak ko]. But you know, he’s been nothing but wonderful to us,” Lotlot added.
She also said Janine no longer needs to ask for her permission when it comes to her personal relationships, noting that her daughter is already old enough to make her own decisions.
“Kung anoman ang desisyon ng anak ko, I’d like to think that I raised my daughter with a good heart, and hopefully she makes a good decision for herself. I trust her very much,” she said.
When Boy Abunda asked whether she was ready for the possibility of Janine and Jericho eventually getting married, Lotlot said she had long been prepared for that stage in her daughter’s life.
“Oh, I’m ready. I’ve been ready for that for a long time,” she said.
Lotlot’s remarks come after Jericho previously confirmed that he and Janine were exclusively dating.
Janine’s father, Ramon Christopher ‘Monching’ Gutierrez, has also previously spoken positively about Jericho and even expressed openness to working with him on a future project.
