One of Philippine showbiz’s most iconic love teams is officially returning to television as Marvin Agustin and Jolina Magdangal reunite for TV5’s upcoming series ‘Mommy Guard’.

After bringing nostalgia and kilig to the big screen through their 2025 reunion movie ‘Ex Ex Lovers’, Marvin and Jolina—collectively known to generations of fans as MarJo—are taking their tandem back to the small screen.
And judging from the first teaser of ‘Mommy Guard’, fans can expect the familiar “aso’t pusa” chemistry that made the pair one of the most beloved tandems of the ’90s.
During the media conference for the series, Jolina admitted that she and Marvin remain amazed that the fans who supported them decades ago are still following their journey today.
For the actress, their reunion projects are not simply about recreating what worked for them in the past. While nostalgia remains part of the MarJo appeal, they also want audiences to see how their partnership has evolved through the years.
Jolina said Mommy Guard will still have the romance audiences expect from their tandem, but its story will also tackle conflicts and situations that reflect their more mature stage in life.
Of course, a MarJo interview would hardly be complete without Marvin teasing his longtime screen partner.
When the two were asked how they “guard” their hearts from possibly falling for each other again whenever they work together, Marvin jokingly admitted that it remains one of his biggest challenges.
Seeing Jolina’s children at the event only gave Marvin more material for his jokes.
Hahaha! Ako pala si Marvin,” he joked.
“Nandito nga ang mga anak ni Jolina. Hello, babies. Kasama ko ang mag-iina ko!” he added, prompting Jolina to quickly rein him in.
Behind all the jokes, however, Marvin acknowledged that there is something special about the bond he and Jolina have maintained after all these years.
He recalled their pictorial for ‘Mommy Guard’, where even they noticed how naturally their chemistry returned in front of the cameras.
“Ang cute talaga namin, na sabi ko nga sa kanya, ‘Alam mo ba na magsi-singkuwenta na tayo in a few years?’ But ’yung pagmamahal na sinasabi ni Jolina kanina, I guess that’s something na hindi magbabago,” Marvin said.
Mapa-personal man o trabaho.”
For Marvin, that genuine affection may also explain why fans continue to see the same “magic” whenever they perform together.
“That’s something, I guess, kaya ’yung magic na sinasabi nga nila, natutuwa kami na ini-enjoy n’yo kapag nagpe-perform kami, na nandoon pa rin,” he said.
Jolina, meanwhile, stressed that while they treasure the nostalgia attached to their tandem, Mommy Guard will introduce audiences to a MarJo that has grown alongside its longtime supporters.
“Natutuwa ako kasi ’pag nakikita nila ang Marvin-Jolina or ’yung MarJo, talagang ando’n ’yung saya sa puso nila at ayaw naming mawala iyon ni Marvin,” she said.
Marvin and Jolina became one of the defining love teams of the ’90s after appearing together in the youth-oriented series ‘Gimik’ and films such as ‘Labs Kita… Okey Ka Lang?’, ‘Flames: The Movie’, and ‘Hey Babe’!.

Decades later, the tandem continues to attract supporters—including, as Jolina proudly pointed out, the children of the very fans who grew up watching them.
Joining Marvin and Jolina in ‘Mommy Guard’ are Cedrick Juan, Pearl Gonzales, Nathalie Apollo, Amo Wilding, Celyn David, Patrick Ballesteros, Roxanne Guinoo, and Dominic Ochoa.
