OPM singer-songwriter and ‘It’s Showtime’ host Ogie Alcasid called on Filipinos to question whether recurring flooding should continue to be accepted following another round of heavy rains and floods in parts of the country.

In a social media post on Wednesday, September 1, Alcasid noted that while the rain had stopped and floodwaters had subsided, the issue should still prompt reflection.

Alcasid wrote.

He then answered his own question emphatically.

“Hindi maaari kabayan! Hindi na maaari!” he added.

Alcasid’s remarks came following flooding in several areas after heavy rains affected parts of the Philippines.

His post drew responses from social media users who similarly expressed frustration over recurring floods, with some linking the issue to governance and the choices voters make during elections.

Another commented, “Tama. Dapat magalit na tayo sa ganito. Tama na! Sobra na!”

A separate user brought up how voters respond to politicians during election campaigns.

Another simply said, “Solusyon sa baha isang gobyernong tapat.”

These comments reflect the views of individual social media users and do not establish responsibility for the flooding.

Alcasid himself did not identify any politician, government agency, or specific flood-control project in his post. His statement instead centered on whether Filipinos should continue accepting recurring flooding as part of their experience during periods of heavy rainfall.
