What many initially thought was a new beauty pageant turned out to be part of GMA Pictures’ upcoming satire comedy film “Red Crown.”

The promotional rollout for the movie introduced “Queen of the Islands” in a way that led some social media users to initially believe it was an actual beauty competition.

But while the pageant exists within the world of “Red Crown,” fans are already picking their favorites among the film’s contestants.

Sparkle artists Sanya Lopez, Shuvee Etrata, Faith da Silva, AZ Martinez, Ashley Ortega, and Skye Chua are among those joining the fictional competition, with their respective supporters already rallying behind them online.

Adding another layer of authenticity to the pageant setting is the participation of several personalities with actual beauty-pageant experience.

The film brings the Sparkle stars together with pageant titleholders and veterans including Ahtisa Manalo, Gazini Ganados, MJ Lastimosa, Ara Arida, Michelle Marquez Dee, Herlene Budol, and Alethea Ambrosio, among others.

Their involvement has generated interest among both pageant followers and movie fans, particularly as promotional and behind-the-scenes materials continue to surface.

“Behind the scenes already looks exciting! Ready to see who will take the crown,” one netizen commented.

Rather than presenting a conventional pageant story, “Red Crown” is being positioned as a satire comedy, with the fictional “Queen of the Islands” competition serving as a central element of the film.

Directed by Dominic Zapata, “Red Crown” is scheduled to arrive in cinemas this October.
