An unexpectedly emotional moment unfolded on ‘It’s Showtime’ after Ryan Bang broke down in tears while wondering whether he would ever find someone who could love him despite what he may or may not have in life.
The touching exchange happened during the show’s live episode on Wednesday, September 2, as Ryan thanked Vice Ganda for bringing him to Yeng Constantino’s recent anniversary concert.
“Thank you, Mommy, for bringing me to Yeng’s concert. It brought back so many memories,” Ryan told Vice.
“Thank you, Mommy. It was one of my best moments.”
What began as a simple expression of gratitude quickly became emotional when Vice noticed that Ryan appeared to be holding back tears.
“Ba’t ka naiiyak?” Vice asked.
Ryan eventually broke down, prompting Vice to embrace him.
“Don’t cry,” Vice told him, also becoming emotional.
Ryan then explained why the concert had affected him so deeply.
Years ago, when he was still starting his career in the Philippines, Ryan had pursued Yeng romantically but eventually stopped because he was afraid of being rejected.
At the time, Ryan recalled having very little money. He had no car, could not afford expensive dates, and would repeatedly wear the same clothes.
He later learned that Yeng actually had a huge crush on him then.
That realization resurfaced during the singer’s anniversary concert, where Yeng reminisced about their past and even serenaded Ryan, who was seated in the audience beside Vice.
Back on “It’s Showtime,” Ryan admitted that the experience made him wonder whether he could still find someone who would accept him in the same way.
“Hindi, kasi, sabi ko, makakahanap kaya ako… makakahanap kaya ako na… siyempre, tulad ni Yeng na nu’ng umpisa ako, wala akong pambayad ng date, wala ako kotse, ’di ba? Wala ako pera. Paulit-ulit ’yung damit ko. Pero may chance pala ako sa kanya. Makakahanap kaya ako ng gano’n?” Ryan said through tears.
His vulnerability visibly affected his fellow hosts, with Karylle also becoming emotional during the exchange.
Vice responded by telling Ryan that he did not need to worry about finding the right person.
“Hindi ka makakahanap, ikaw ang hahanapin ng pag-ibig,” Vice told him.
“Kaya hindi mo kailangang maghanap. Love will find you. Just wait.”
Ryan thanked Vice before the two embraced once more.
The moment became particularly poignant given Ryan’s recent experience with heartbreak.
Ryan was previously engaged to Paola Huyong, with their engagement announced in 2024. They had been planning to marry in 2026 before reports emerged in late 2025 that the relationship had ended and the wedding would no longer push through.
Ryan subsequently confirmed their separation in early 2026 and said he had done what he could to save the relationship. He previously cited their cultural differences as among the challenges they faced.
Yeng, meanwhile, is married to Victor Asuncion.
Interestingly, Ryan almost did not experience the emotional concert moment at all.
Vice revealed that his partner, Ion Perez, was originally supposed to accompany him to Yeng’s anniversary show.
However, Ion was unable to make the trip after getting stuck in Quezon, leading Vice to bring Ryan instead.
