Doug Kramer and his wife, Chesca Garcia, have drawn attention after sharing a message about forgiveness and compassion amid the renewed controversy involving Chesca’s brother, Patrick Garcia, and his former partner Jennylyn Mercado.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, October 3, Doug encouraged people to respond to negativity with kindness rather than resentment.

“Fight hate with Love. Resentment with Light,” he wrote. “Cruelty is an echo of unrest within. Yet not every stone thrown is purely blind.”

The former PBA player also reflected on the importance of extending grace despite personal differences.

“Perfection isn’t human; we all stumble along the way. Grace is needed both ways—we all hurt others, and we also feel pain. So extend forgiveness generously; none of us walk with clean hands.”

The message further urged readers to “hold fast to your warmth and keep moving forward” and “refuse to return the sting,” ending with an appeal to let compassion “break the heavy chain.”

Although the post did not mention Patrick, Jennylyn or their ongoing controversy, netizens linked it to the issue involving Chesca’s brother. Observers also noticed that Doug had disabled the post’s comment section.

The controversy resurfaced following Patrick’s interview on Ogie Diaz Inspires, where he denied deliberately abandoning Jennylyn during her pregnancy with their son, Alex Jazz, while acknowledging his absence at the time.

Patrick said he decided to speak publicly after his 13-year-old daughter, Michelle, became the target of online criticism. He also disclosed that he last saw Jazz in 2017.

Jennylyn has declined to respond to Patrick’s account. Through Aguila Entertainment, she instead appealed for an end to the bashing directed at his family, particularly Michelle.

The issue has since prompted reactions from their respective families. Patrick’s wife, Nikka Garcia, shared an affectionate post about him, while Jennylyn’s husband, Dennis Trillo, initially drew attention for his seemingly pointed social media remarks before similarly calling for an end to the online attacks.

Jennylyn’s manager, Becky Aguila, also questioned Patrick’s decision to revisit the matter publicly, while Star Magic appealed for compassion toward Michelle.
